Great to have this confirmed. Back to checking the handset then. Is it running the original ROM or something else? Perhaps a failed update or updated with wrong radio? You might have to try a different SIM card as well.

Any idea what it could be then that's not letting me use a vodafone sim John? I have looked all over the net and can't seem to find an answer - surely it can't be a hardware problem, I seen it working before I bought it, I even made a phone call off of it! Only other thing I can think of is maybe the seller had it on a contract and it won't let me use a pre pay sim - that's just a random stab in the dark so don't lol @ me.

It's running original telecom rom, I was wondering if it might be a failed update or something similar, it does prompt me to update it in the notification area but as I only use a usb mobile data modem it is too costly to update it that way. I will go buy a brand new xt micro sim tomorrow as it does say that they are $5 now so that's a bonus.

Have you taken it in to Vodafone and asked them to try another sim in it? One of the sales reps should be happy enough to chuck their sim in it. Then if theirs works it should be a simple case of getting a new sim for you and porting your existing number on to it.

yeah, agree take it to a Vodafone store and get them to test a few sims, it sounds like you've had your sim in and out of different phones, sometimes they get scratched and some phones are more sensitive than others to these scratches

Well just went and bought a xt microsim and it says no sim card still. If it was on contract originally would this stop me putting a pre paid sim in it?
