When I got mine, I checked serveral times and no update, next morning when I got up I turned on phones wifi and sync, made a cuppa and there was the update promt on screen, good luck.

My friend did the update today but says the music player is no longer showing any of his music. any ideas?

Are you using telecom? Just wondering if telecom sim needed for the update

Can you manually do this? how do you do it?

Never used default music player, but I guess something like scan sd card option in settings. Try to get a good free one from market will also do.

vampireleon, no I have a 2Degrees sim in it (I did get a Telecom sim, but not used it yet).

Regarding music player, I had no music on it until after I put ICS on it and could not find a music player, but foung a widget in the all apps/widgets section and was the 5 page in widgets (it say's 'music playlist' ) and put in in a home sreen and works fine, if not download one from Play Store.

Also, how do I get the text boxes in a reply from a post, when I click 'Reply' in a post it does noting at all, so I have to go to bottom of page and click 'compose reply'??, am using firefox 17

Thanks to let me knows 2d works fine. You'll need to hit the "quote" button to reply, which is a bit odd anyways. I don't like any of built in apps except from google, and been moved from jellybean back to 2.3 I miss google now a lot, it is such a useful function that's only available for 4.1+

Me and my wife both have an atrix 2 on Skinny and finally got the ics update this week. I got one of the telecom one at $268 last week as a christmas present for my dad last week, i tried today to update it to ics today but it always says that my device is up to date although it is still on 2.3.6.
Any idea why i am not able to get the ics update? I have tried both with a telecom and my skinny sim card. Cheers

Hi, I never had a prob with update, it did it the next morning after I bought it, when I got up, I turned wifi and sync on to connect to router and it's apps check updates ?? etc and the ICS update promt was on screen , had a 2dgrees sim in it, so I don't think sim carrier matters for check over wifi, cheers

The SIM shouldn't matter, but it does depend who you bought the phone from - when buying from a carrier (i.e. Telecom) Android devices are often running a customised (even if it's just the startup logo and a couple of pre-installed apps) version of the OS, and so the carrier gets to decide when the updates go out.

This is one of the reasons I ditched my Telecom HTC Sensation, as it took for ever to get the ICS update. I've gone with the Nexus 4 now (which gets it's updates direct from Google), and don't think I'll go back to a carrier supplied phone again.

Hi, yip was a Telecom phone, was on special last week at harvey Norman, had the Telecom logo and the 'my Telecom' app on main screen etc, just don't know why soom people get the update quickly and other don't?

Dam, cheaper than the $268 I paid last week from harvey norman, have not seen any advert for boxing day specials yet from the warehouse, and I have a warehouse voucher too that could buy it, never mine.

Anyway, those who have had the lastest phones for the last couple of years will think, 'wow, who cares', but going from a Vodafone 845 (which I only used as a 'phone' really) to the Atrix 2 is so awesome, it's like having a mini computer in your pocket and the screen is so clear, oh well might look at the Galaxy S lV next year. :-)
