some people find such "work-around" ways cheating or illegal, and it's fine. it's a personal choice, whatever works for you.

I'm quite sure they are happy that I did this, because I ended up paying for that safety package and I would never purchase the $99 GPS application.

It's different. Pretty sure that if you read the licensing agreement it will state that you should not reasonably circumvent the copy protection, nor the regional restrictions they (or perhaps other governing bodies have placed, and downloading like that would certainly fall outside of that.

Amazon do not sell electronics, because they cannot guarantee that each item will fall inside the legal requirements for resale of electrical items in NZ, including having a suitably rated power supply etc. Also they don't provide warranty on internationally shipped items, so they opt not to sell at all. If you use youshop, then YOU are bearing 100% of the responsibility for ensuring that devices legality for use in NZ.

There's nothing illegal in breaking region locks. Actually you're allowed to in New Zealand.

TomTom for Android or CoPilot. Both have offline voice navigation and are available in New Zealand.

It uses Open Street Maps, pro version is only $8 and it has some pretty good ratings. I might look at it if I go overseas ever again. Not at that Raro needs a street map.... ;-)

That's true, it's free from the "Samsung App store" for free to Australian clients. It contains lifetime support and map updates for both AU and NZ maps.

Not sure how relevant this thread is, as the OP may have already decided. But for those looking for an alternative I use NDrive and have found it to be very reliable. Has offline and map pack for NZ includes AUS, not bad for under $50.
