But that's different to fast dormancy isn't it?

My phone has stopped dropping to 3G and is back just as H the whole time. It has only done it one day which also happens to be the day I posted this

Now it's just idling as HSPA:10

I asked for this thread to be unlocked because i have a three fold question.

My HTC One now has a custom rom capable of toggling fast dormancy. So I am trying to optimize the battery life and data speeds. So what I am wondering is;

Does fast dormancy affect 4G?

Confirming that the correct selection for Telecom (and Skinny for that matter) is to select Fast Dormancy to OFF?

Will removing then replacing the sim give the option to install provider settings like it did when I first installed the sim, or is that only because the original rom was a NZ one? I guess I asking is it a property of the Telecom sim or not?

It is set by default to OFF on Telecom/Skinny supplied phones

The Telecom network does not support fast dormancy.

I got from direct from them a while back, but can't find the post any longer.

- Fast Dormancy does not exist for LTE. But as LTE is only presently used for data, it's important to get the setting right (Unless you plan to lock your device to LTE only & not make or receive calls & texts).

- Correct.

- It's a regional ROM feature, but the SIM toolkit may have the option to download settings. This isn't a lot of use, though, as setup wuzards & OTA network settings aren't (usually, anyway) capable of changing anything the user can't modify in the APN configuration screen. Fast Dormancy & other network-specific features like HD Voice are all ROM-based, and may be on all the time, off all the time, accessible through arcane service menus, or automatically toggled on a per-SIM/operator basis depending on software build/manufacturer/OS.

Yes, correct. But does it matter? I have my Note 3 on Telecom network with FD ON. I still get over 5 hours of screen time. (see earlier replies)

The first time I inserted a Telecom sim in my stock rom One it came up with the option of installing provider options or sticking with stock. When I selected Telecom, it added a couple of shortcuts (ytworld, etc) and, I assume, adjusted the settings for apns etc. My question was whether that would happen with any rom, or only one primed to look for it.

Battery does matter as HTC always seem to underdo the capacity. The Note 3 can probably just shrug off the extra juice required, but not the One.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I was wrongly under the impression that FD was only for data. FD is toggled off for now.
