MartyTheZebra:....I left for android as it was easily rooted.
Krishant007: I would agree on a lot of the points already mentioned regarding S3>One X. One X is based on the Nvidia Tegra 3 chip which is not as good as the S3's exynos. Also, S3 is highly popular as well, so there will be continual support for it.
I dont know about the DC version (i9305 - LTE). I would say the regular i9300 should be fine.
One X is not as good as S3 in many things. Not saying that HTC sucks, just saying their One X model isnt as impressive as the Samsung equivalent.

MartyTheZebra: I mean accessories don't matter as I'll just use a case/extended battery Case and that's about all. My S1 is rooted and so was my Motorola milestone. I do want the s3 but I've never actually laid my hands on one yet nor a one x

TopShelfCookieJar: What's the One X like in terms of installing custom ROMs, etc? Pretty well supported, JB ROMs, etc?
Dingbatt: As for the GPS, it may not have GLONASS but my One X got a lock in a moving airliner, accurate (as reported) to 100 feet. The guy with the S3 next to me couldn't get a lock at all. Not specs, just personal experience.
Edit: Fixed some typos.

I wasn't just talking specs, I've owned both and taken dozens of My Tracks tracks with both phones over the same route while monitoring the GPS Test app. I don't think your experience holds up to higher quality testing over a sufficient sample size, that's my personal experience at any rate.
I'll have the HTC Butterfly in about a week too, if you want to figure that into your consideration OP. It overcomes a lot of the downfalls of the One X.

I guess my evidence is anecdotal but still valid. My experience of the GPS in my One X is that it is streets ahead of my previous HTC phones (Hero and DHD). It will reliably lock when I need it, even when inside sometimes. In fact it fixes almost as fast and accurately as the bluetooth GPS unit I have.
I still believe overall that the S3 is the better handset, but both the One X and S3 are last year's models. I am looking forward to what is revealed for 2013 in Barcelona next month.
Edit: Oh and I'm looking forward to your review of the Butterfly when you get it.
