I want one too, but one thing that concerns me is this STAMINA mode, it might switch off background services unless the screen is on. That's likely going to be a problem. I see battery life as important but at the cost of missing out on background services. background services were designed to be just that. Yikes.

The Stamina mode is better thought out than that, you can exclude apps from it so they will still run in the background when it is on. Given that it looks as if the Stamina mode should only bring positives.

Is it the user/owner that chooses what aps are excluded ? I fear for  services ( without obvious names) that call api's every 10 minutes etc. The user may not even be aware of the background functionality an app has, hence would not exclude it and then wonder why notifications arrive only when the screen is on. Time will tell. have you got your hands on one ?

Indeed time will tell.

I'm unlikely to get any substantial hands-on since I won't purchase this for myself and I can't see Sony sending me a review handset. By the way Sony, you should totally send me a review handset :)

(but only if you really back your handset to stand up to a completely honest inspection, I shill for nobody)

I think the biggest issue here is that it comes with Android 4.1, not 4.2 and Sony has a terrible track record when it comes to releasing updates.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.
