nitrotech: Having owned 2 sgs2's I really can't recommend the device, constant battery drain, screen burn not to mention the wifi issues. Lets face it the device now looks a bit 'dated'

Can't comment on the s3 mini as I don't have one.

I've now had my S2 for over 16 months and not experiences any of the above. In particular what was the screen burn issue?

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

I would say Galaxy Nexus, or Huawei Ascend D Quad XL (can be had for less than $500, and is a whole lot of phone for that money).

Of the two the OP has mentioned the S2, easily.

I think the one very negative feedback about the S2 here is more of an outlier than anything, and part of the problem of being swayed overly by anecdotal experience. Vast majority of S2 owners I know (and I'm in a position to know a LOT of people who are or were in that boat) were, and in many cases still are, very happy with their phone.

If you do go the S2 route try and get the official extended battery - it not only does the obvious and improves the battery life, but it also improves the ergonomics are fair amount.
