timmmay: It's within one year. Take it back to warehouse stationary, ask nicely for a refund or replacement, if they say no go straight to small claims court and file a claim.
ajobbins: When mine got SDS, Odin mode showed:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
My understanding is this is beacuse the NAND was corrupt and it couldn't read the product name or system partition therefore it defaults to 'SYSTEM STATUS: Custom'.
In your case, it certainly does 'appear' that the phone has, at some point, been rooted. HOWEVER, this has been known to happen when a legitimate software update has failed. It may have even happened at SSCNZ when they have tried to fix it with a reflash, and it has failed.

Agreed. It's taken Samsung just three weeks to turn my attitude toward them from hyper to viper. And I was about to buy myself a Galaxy Note 10.1 as well. No more.
