k. interesting. will look into the acceleration thing.

Each to there own as to what level of privacy they are happy with. the old school styles of adding each other suites me just fine. data and minutes is cheap enough in my opinion.

stevenz: The fault you describe sounds like light-bleed which is not entirely uncommon.

Given that the phone was supposed to be the I9100, it should have a SAMOLED+ screen. Each pixel in an OLED-based screen generates its own light, so there is no backlight to bleed.

There may be a chance that the phone is not the I9100, but one of the variants such as the I9100G, which use LCD screens. The best way to check is to look at the sticker behind the battery. It should say whether it's the I9100, I9100G, I9105, or one of the SGH models.

If it really is an OLED screen, the cause could be a defect in the sub-pixel matrix. The human eye gets much of the strain from the red and blue sub-pixels, and brightness from green. If some of the power that should be going to red and blue is bleeding through to the green, it could in theory cause decreased saturation and increased brightness.

i9100G has a Super AMOLED display. It differs from the i9100 in that it has a TI OMAP SoC instead of an Exynos one.

My old i9100T has a similar issue with the left side of the screen being brighter than the rest. Sounds like it not too uncommon, I saw a few other people complaining about it on the Xda forums at the time.

we share internet connection at home with out a land line. and I pay 2degrees 12.50 per week for a gig of data and 300 minutes a month. this seems well sufficient for me. yes it is darer hear but still quite affordable. I would not earn more than your local WOF man. I can afford this no problem.

Left front trouser pocket, screen facing leg, wallet on other side of phone, plastic type cover on phone...... trouser went tight as I sat back into my vehicle and thats it. I thought I was being fairly mindful but obviously they are nothing like the old brick style Nokia’s I’ve been using for 15 years.

I will get another screen off ebay and fix it....

That would be great as it would not cost much. I don't know much about these things yet, but the screen is black like in the picture when the phone is on or of. So I must try to understand what this means first i guess.

sounds like you might need a glass + screen replacement, if the screen isn't displaying anything. (Assuming it's not a loose connector)

Connector not loose, and as some others said, this is not a new phone...... main board not even screwed down inside phone. Front chassis is plastic, not metal as i see in youtube. Parts have old finger prints on them. Front glass isn’t stuck down like it should be. The plastic front chassis and the glass not stuck down is the reason it broke in so easily in my opinion,.. too flexible. I brought many many things off ebay before but this time im not so happy, lets see if i can get any resolution, will keep you guys posted, as it has now got interesting. As they say the proof is in the pudding and I have now answered my own original question!
