Bought a Desire X from vodafone for my mum on march. She loves her ipad mini but the iphone 4 at the time was double the cost.
Phone was working fine till the 4.1 update. Battery life took a hit but more annoying thing is the phone will reboot whenever its connected to wifi. Have tried factory reset but it didn't fix it.
Now she wants an iPhone 5c because she is used to the 4 inch screen.
If she is familiar with iOS then its best to go for the cheapest iPhone which is the 4s.

I don't get this thing about phones too big for some people, I do get it if they are comparing it to a dumb phone but these are smart phones so a reasonable sized screen is better so you can enjoy it to full capabilities, if you just want to txt etc stay with a dumb phone.

I watch people with smart phones and not many use it with one hand so maybe its just people holding on to the past without trying it first, could be 100% wrong as well but p[eople adjust to something new and some hold on to the past

One handed operation is useful.

timmmay: One handed operation is useful.

but not a necessity to operate the phone and it is one of the trade offs for having a smart phone

I say the nexus 4, or the s3 or s4 mini or even htc one mini

It may seem big but you get used to it
