Thats pretty negative and you know its not correct as you saw the thread saying 2D are selling for $699. It won't be near $1000, although its dearer than the N4 it still won't get that high

He posted that comment prior to 2D announcing that they would sell the N5 for $699, so it's not really fair to say that.

That sucks that the US Nexus doesnt support LTE at the moment.

But it doesnt the north american phone have the LTE 700 band and the worldwide doesnt? Once the Govt in NZ shuts down that network I thought telecom vodafone and 2D were looking to set up LTE on that network also?
I think that was the old television network so wouldnt the frequency be well established throughout the country?

Does anyone know if the Nexus supports multicarrier HSPA+?

I have a iphone 5 with vodafone for work, i live in auckland. its ment to have a priority sim (emergency worker) so you get first dibs at cell towers I still havent seen LTE on it yet.

But the HSPA+ speeds are pretty fast I dont get HD movies skipping. DO you need LTE if you dont have a big data contract or im guessing it will just eat you data faster.

In short, no. The US model supports band 17, whereas in NZ we'll be using band 28. They're both 700 MHz but are arranged differently.

Band3 1800Mhz is the same and used in NZ today

Called ' Dual carrier ' what 3G speed do the specs show the handset supports up to?

Edit: Yes the N5 does support dual carrier just looked at the specs

DC-HSDPA, 42 Mbps; HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps; LTE, Cat3, 50 Mbps UL, 100 Mbps DL

From what ive read up to 42mbps.
But ive read about mc-hspa which was said to up multiple cell towers connected. creating speeds higher then 42mbps. Qualcomm has mentioned it. but wasnt sure if this phone had that ability.

I touched on both of these in my original post, for 700mhz though already been answered, it won't work "on any current or future network". This includes the 700mhz spectrum that is being auctioned off, as this is going to be Band 28 LTE and no device or network supports this atm.

In regards to dual carrier, "It will however work with DC-HSPA+ on all 3G networks.". For using multiple carriers aggregated from different towers, i don't believe the device supports that unless i'm mistaken, or any NZ network either. I believe this feature is implemented in "HSPA+ Advanced" (qualcomms naming) release 11 onwards, so we might see it in the future, though it's unlikely we'll see network wide upgrades of it with LTE being the priority.
