Paste the output (or take a screenshot) of

*#1234#

That'll be able to tell us what "brand" of Note2 it is you have.

Just the CSC part

Antzzz: Just got 4.3 tonight here - although that was on a Note 2 from PB Tech, so guessing it is a parallel import device from somewhere in Asia.

So you wold have got the update via samsung kies and not via your telco?

I know there are 'international' models of the note 2 for sale here - I understand some of the parallel importers bring these in.
Some importers bring in domestic models from taiwan/bulgaria/wherever - which as far as I can tell would only get updates via their telcos. As you would never be connected to those telcos you would never get an over the air update. Pretty sure thats how it works.

You could have a look at this as well http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/ if you need flashing tools

I
used this to convert my brother in laws korean sourced variant of an S2 into a vodafone NZ s2 - It seems to be regarded as a 'safer' program to use than odin (dont all shout - its just the opinions I have read).
I have seen a few posts where people got their phones going with heimdall again after odin wouldnt touch it.

I bought my Note 2 LTE from a Parallell Importer.  It had the Hong Kong firmware on it.  I flashed the Stock VFNZ using Odin and then had to factory reset it a few times until it showed it was applying the VFNZ CSC.

Now my phone is a normal VFNZ phone.

Loves changing wifi networks because my router 2 metres away is slow.

Nope, update was over-the-air, definitely not via Kies...
