gdog: Screw it all. I might just get one of these. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/transmaker-a-device-turns-smartphone-into-a-tablet
Seems like maybe two less devices required

I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole! lol.

Yeah - i think it looks a bit out there - interesting idea though.  Went with new screen, digitizer and frame in one for US$82.00 landed.

It's like a cheap chinese knock-off of the Asus Padfone

Hope it all goes well for you!

Keen to know how you get on.  Ease of replacing etc.  As my kids cracked the screen in my Gen 1 Nexus 7.  Still works, sort of.  Bottom corner (where the crack is) doesn't.  Sometimes takes on a clicking frenzy too from time to time.

Hi Folks - just an update - installed this part (http://dx.com/p/replacement-lcd-display-capacitive-touch-screen-digitize-assembly-for-google-nexus-7-black-283004#.Uv1CAmLa4sA) and used this guide (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nexus+7+Display+Assembly+Replacement/9945) to get things done. Went pretty smoothly and now all going well.
