Yeah sounds like the products a dud for home share unless the community start hacking being android hopefuly wont be to long to wait. Great if it could run xbmc or similar software! Seems no root yet!. I see some glimmer of hope one user has SMB server and SSH server running on it see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497102

But then if you get a "Media Center" you'd think you don't have to install a... media center software, right? I mean, things would be built-in, surely?

Exactly seems very limited what Sammy have done seems to be focused on their App Store and phones.

They do support DLNA with this device but I still think the use case for a "play content over network share" should be built-in.

An update: AirDroid does indeed work on this device. It seems it only works over WiFi and the Samsung HomeSync was connected via Ethernet. As soon as I enabled WiFi AirDroid worked fine.

Used it to load content into the device. Also installed the Netflix app and using Hola to test it (even though we do have Unblock-Us in our network but for this device test I will run as if we didn't have it).

Quite interested in this bit of hardware.

I was looking for something similar to replace/complement the WD TV Live in the bedroom, and very interested in any updates on how you are finding using it in practice. The main reason I want it is to have something that is both DLNA and flash video capable, so I can stream files from my Hauppauge Broadway (which is connected to my) Sky Box etc across the network to my bedroom.

The WD TV will cope with most DLNA streaming (eg from my DVD recorder) but, for some reason, chokes on the output from the Broadway. In particular, interested to know:
- whether DLNA works properly
- whether XBMC can be installed
- whether the hard drive can be accessed (to copy files to/from) over the network, and
- whether it works with a bluetooth mouse/keyboard.
