I find wifi on is the difference between a dead phone by 5:30-6pm or else about 40% left. Not sure if its apps that are only active over wifi like dropbox and rdio and google play music, or just the wifi constant connection and scanning and switching between accesspoints, but it is a signifigant user of power.
lokhor: If it's a 2degrees phone it shouldn't be a problem with fast dormancy since it should have been disabled by default and would have caused problems on Telecom. It sounds like it is probably an issue with reception strength - 2degrees have pretty terrible signal, especially inside buildings.
Yeah I think this is it. The signal is poor most of the day :/ I was really hoping that being in Wellington it would be alright, but sometimes in the CBD I can't get mobile data working. It's very disappointing.
I think you may have hit the nail on the head here. I mentioned your initial post to my wife. She immediately said 'probably low signal strength'. Where she works they use ipads/android 3G tablets for field work. The business had signed up to 'a telco'. The users reported poor coverage and poor battery life. A couple of users swapped in some sims from a competitor and voila! Good coverage and vastly better battery life. I suppose the transmit/recieve features have to crank up the power when signal is weak.
Are you mainly finding this an issue at work? Is it something like a bad spot in an office? If you wander around is signal bad everywhere?
