bagheera:jeffnz:why Samsung? because i had one - not had any other manufacturer other then nexus 4 so could not comment on them - but if worst, they should stop selling phones. And yes most people do not care about fixes, but will care if there is a security hole and they lose money with there on-line banking app etc - then it would be why was this not fix!!
@bagheera No idea why you bring Samsung into nit they certainly aren't the slowest in the market but glad you seem satisfied now.
when will people stop going on about android and understand the differences between OS's and not expect them to be all the same in distribution, we get the same old tired arguments and justifications for not buying this or that when none of this is new. The vast majority of Android users couldn't care less about updates nor been worried by so called threats that don't eventuate.
if a phone manufacturer changes a phone OS in a way which stop the phone from getting security update when google fixes a security issue, then phone manufacturer should roll out a fix to their phone very quickly after google not some 1 - 2 year maybe, never time. phone manufacturer need to do their part in security too - i would not buy a PC that had software that stop MS update installing, and no one would if they new that was the case, so why is it different for phones?
I've heard of threats but never actually seen anything saying that these threats have caused widespread damage, maybe I should get out from under my mushroom more.
How many threats are a reality in MS powered PC's, thousands I'm guessing but happy to stand corrected on that. So what are we actually talking about, you are aggrieved that you never got a security update for a threat that amounted to what exactly, not being rude here but I really don't know.
