I believe the Alpha has the same Exynos 5430/33 chipset that's in some Note 4 variants, so processor grunt is really not a concern at all, especially with the Alpha at 720p - more comparable to the Snapdragon 805 than the 801, and reportedly 64bit (Making it future-proofed for Android L).

Wonder if/when Sony will make a Zultra successor - now that I'd like to see.

Apparently Z3 Tablet Compact can call over LTE (paired with Bluetooth headset) - as the Dialer app is visible from the Home screen.

This review for the Z3 compact certainly looks promising. Pretty affordable too at $600~ from Clove

I suspect the release is designed to get some more market share off Samsung now that the iphone 6 is en route. If for a moment in time they can have the 'latest' Android they may get new buyers, as well as some who are coming off iphone 5/5s contracts.

The Z3 and Z3 compact look to me to be placed as competitors to the iphone 6 and iphone 6 plus.

Unfortunate for anyone with a Z2, but it does make sense given they probably don't have many more throws of the dice

I'm pretty sold on the Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact.

The Clove model (D5803) doesn't do band 28 (700Mhz LTE) but the D5833 does.

Our 700 LTE is different to USA 700 LTE. Ours is band 28, also referred to as APT. Theirs is band 12/13 etc.

I realise that but according to everywhere except the whitepaper, D5833 doesn't appear to have LTE 700 at all.

Ahh ok. Pass. Maybe a terminology thing eg They call it 800 but it is actually what we call 700? It does span 703 to 803 MHz.

I'm reasonably trusting of the official Sony document rather than specs from 3rd party sites that are probably all copying off each other.

Time will tell :-)
