Microsoft Translate has been doing all this on Windows Phone for a while now, two years at least.

And soon Skype translate.

Just playing around with the IPhone Google translate a bit more.  It allows me to select a language to translate to, then when you say something it comes up with a little message saying that [voice] translate is not available for this language.  It allows me to do text translation ok.

Another thing, a few people have said that it gets the grammar for the translation incorrect (Japanese for example). I wonder if it is just translating word for word rather than interpreting context.

Like Bing translate on facebook, that makes absolutely no sense at all?
I follow a german page and quite often have to copy it into google to work out what bing was on about. :D
