This G6 teardown shows how simple it would have been for LG to include wireless in all handsets. I can't for the life of me work out why they wouldn't have done so.

Memo to LG: It's just plain mean-spirited to not include it for all markets.

Below review from Vlad Savov of The Verge for the Korean variant of the G6

http://www.theverge.com/2017/4/5/15189788/lg-g6-quad-dac-audiophile-smartphone

The Hong Kong version is being released next week which will have the same specs ie Hifi Dac as the Korean model. Only difference is the bands of the Hong Kong model will be compliant with New Zealand.

Big shout to Nik T to possibly stock this? I will be his first customer if he does! I don't really want to buy from Ebay but from a reputable dealer like PB Tech.

NikT:

Not planning to bring the G6 in at PB at this stage for all the reasons you've listed. There's no one-SKU-to-rule-them-all, and it's not well differentiated vs. the competition.

Recommend the V20 if you're looking for an audiophile smartphone, it's an excellent piece of kit.

Agreed, I have the LGv20 and I really rate it as one of the best phones I've owned. I thought the second screen would be gimmicky but I really like it. I'll be sad when I inevitably move it on to get the next flagship.

I've seen quite a few reviews, general consensus great looking hardware, but (relative to similar priced phones):

  • lacking ram and on board storage
  • LG OS skin is poor
  • aging camera unit
  • last year's chip

On the hardware, looks great but flush mounted screen and camera prone to scratching without protection.

Will be a difficult sell with the arguably better S8 around same price.

Guess I'm in the minority but the LG has a killer feature for me in that extreme high quality sound system.

The camera has in the reviews I have seen got great reviews, but like anything you can find differing reviews on anything.

I'm not sure what advantages the S8 has over the S7 apart from mainly cosmetic. I'm really not a fan of the edge screen. I'm not sure of the killer feature of the S8, admittedly though an all round good phone, just not for me.

In real life terms the advantage the 835 has over the 821? Yes it's the latest and greatest, but the 821 is speedy, efficient and proven.

Asian version of the G6 comes with 64gb internal storage, with SD card for music enough for me.

However, i'm not trying to convince me!! Just some reliable local importer that will offer a warranty
