so you have zero idea about EMUI 5 then? how can you say it is crap if you havent used it?

I think it's fair to comment on the version of EMUI that my phone has. I didn't say EMUI 5 was crap, I said EMUI on the P9 was crap.

no you didnt

I agree Huawei screwed the pooch on this, and between this, EMUI being generally crap, and a poor update record I wouldn't buy one. But they're decent devices, fast, so I don't think it will hurt them all that much. It'll teach them a lesson though.

this thread is about the P10/plus which has EMUI 5.x which for all accounts is nothing like EMUI 4.x.

you just end up clouding the waters and giving out wrong opinions about stuff you have no experience in.

yes EMUI 4 may suck in your opinion, but this thread isnt about EMUI 4 or the P9.

I've edited my comment. Perhaps a moderator could clean the thread up a bit.

I'm not sure its a good thing, but I don't think its a big deal either.

Other big brands do this too and it seems legit, its certainly not unusual for the same SKU to evolve over its lifetime (think playstations, xboxes):

Samsung uses entirely different SOC's in different markets (exynos vs snapdragon).

Apple use the same chip fabbed in different foundry's (TSMC 16nm, vs Samsung 14nm) in the same model.

Apple use different cellular chips (qualcomm vs intel) in the same model.

Plus there would be many other substitutions that go under the radar and are never discovered a useful time frame.

I think for most customers, they just don't care unless its really significant.

This is not.

I sometimes come to this forum and wonder why i don't become a bigger part of it, then i read comments like yours that actually make me delete the place from my bookmarks due to the bully nature of the comment.

The person's comment about EMUI 4.1 is very relevant because it is their experience.  personally I like it but am looking forward to 5

People should be allowed to express their view without the constant bullying from the likes of you

don;t bother replying, you;ve made me realise why i don't support this website and will delete it from my bookmarks for another year

All versions of EMUI up to and including 4.1 have been crap so I think his original statement of "EMUI being generally crap" is fair and relevant. They've fixed a lot of things in 5 (mainly be doing things more like the vanilla Android way) but it still annoys me.

I quite like EMUI.

Most of the design decisions are well thought out.

Aesthetically its pleasing.

Its not a performance hog, and some of the features are genuinely useful.

Yes there are bugs, and yes it can be a bit aggressive (in trying to close apps for example), but its alright.
