Same here, we have three Nexus 7 tablets and they still keep up with the children's games. Wonderful tablets.

Hard to find reasonable specs on a tablet. I have a vintage LG GPad 8.3 tablet, which I bought in 2014 brand new for $260 with a 1080p screen, which I'm running Oreo 8.1 on with a security patch from 1st of June this month! 16Gig Memory and 2Gig RAM with SD slot [I got 128GB in it]
If you find something new with these sort of specs let me know.
At this stage I'm thinking it's replacement might be a chrome book since they can now run android apps.

I suggested she get the Lenovo Tab4. It's ok specs, probably fast enough, and I'm happy with my Tab2 given the price. Tab4 just needs to be a bit faster really.

We have a nvidia shield 8" at home. Good specs and grunty enough with near stock android. Only issue is I would only give it 6 out of 10 for the battery. It came from UK $300 18 months ago
