theres more than 10 threads youve started in the last two years asking advice about new phones, have you actually ever taken any of the advice and bought anything?

Quit stalking and trolling people, Ive owned 10+ phones in that time. You dont know my commercial or personal use.

My S7 has the Exynos CPU.

Would you guys pay $60 less for a refurbished S7?

The person using the phone I dont think they would notice. Id do a battery life check etc of course. but then its only $60

Me personally Im waiting to see the nok 7.1 plus. but for the user I dont think its going to beat the s7 camera, especially considering the price.

No, definitely not. You never know what else may have deteriorated but not been replaced.

Something to check when buying brand new S7 phones is that they include Band 28 support. Phones sold new here by Vodafone and Spark did (SM-G930F) but models intended for other markets may not include Band 28. Without it, performance in rural areas will not be so good. Depending on your intended use, that may or may not be important I guess.

I've been using the S8 for most of this year and it's a fantastic phone. Battery life is excellent, camera is amazing, and you can disable or hide pretty much all the bloatware without rooting.

Exynos from memory performs worse than its snapdragon equivalent, but I don't think you'll find a non-US snapdragon samsung.

As with all android if you want the best out of it you're going to need to tweak it. A lot of time you need to manage things that run when you don't need them to, if you get them to turn off intelligently then you'll save a lot of battery.

Ok I will check out the S7 for them. I know they just change the plugs and unlock them in NZ, the plastic is still on the screen etc.

I am interested in the Mi A2 myself technology wise, not to own, but its android one and the camera is pretty darn good if you go back to that camera comparison. Its SD660 and similar internals to the S7 plus. its $398 for base model.

Have you considered the P20?  Best camera hardware on the market.  All the other phone manufactures add the second camera so that you get lossless zoom or fish eye lens.  Hauwei is different, they use the information from the black and white camera (more detailed than the color one) and then add in the color information from the other camera to make one truly awesome photo.  There may be other things that put you off the P20 but it's the best camera hardware out there.  It's also not glass backed.

landcruiserguy: Best camera hardware on the market.

Best pictures still come out of Googles Pixels 2xl & 3 varieties. :D

No point having the best hardware if your results are still not the best.

OP, Mrs is looking at the 7.1... If she does it soon, I'll let you know how the camera is.

I watched a Mate 20 Pro vs Pixel 3 photo comparison, and I have to say I think the Mate edged out the Pixel (for my preferences).

The usual courtesy is to advise by post which final choice you made and purchased. Then mark it as the answer. This adds value to the threads. Maybe rather than starting a new thread today, you could go though your old threads and let us know which 10+ phones you've bought in the last couple of years. There's a few moderators who +1'd my post who could help you out with unlocking the older threads.

I know what the camera is? 12Mp IMX363

There are 3 reasons cameras are good, implenting large light in effect creating large pixels ie 1.4µm and software

There is one thing the N7.1 1.4µm, Galaxy S7 8 and 9, 12mp 1.4µm, LG g6 12Mp 1.4µm, Xiaomi XA 2 1.4µm.

The difference between the $350 Xiaomi and $1300 Pixel is its software. So if you can manage to hack the pixel HDK at your own risk you might just have a fantastic shooter at a short price. I think the n7.1 plus will come in around 88 on Dxo mark, slight but noticeable improvement from Zeiss.

But my next daily will be the p20 pro

40 MP, f/1.8, 27mm (wide), 1/1.7", OIS, PDAF/Laser AF
20 MP B/W, f/1.6, 27mm (wide), 1/2.7", OIS, PDAF/Laser AF
8 MP, f/2.4, 80mm (telephoto), 1/4", 3x optical zoom, OIS, PDAF/Laser AF

1/1.7", that near half an inch right? f1.6 wide open. So BIG BRIGHT pixels and shed loads of them. And shooting in RAW lets you fix things up or have presets calibrations in photoshop.

80mm telephoto

3x optical

I know the main cameras can shoot in RGB/raw, which is a HUGE bonus for HDR shots.

It's a reasonable question. When you start that many threads it doesn't require stalking, it just requires the ability to read and retain information.
