I'd look at an LG V30 or G7 if my phone died tomorrow.

I would never recommend an LG phone. After all the boot loop issues that plagued their earlier phones, and with the extremely poor way they managed it (Slash did nothing about) I would be very cautious about buying an LG phone.

My V20 was one of the best phones I've ever owned and I have owned a LOT of phones. I had no issues with it, but if I experience issues, my retailer will be responsible for the resolution of said issues, not LG.

without a doubt some LG phones are great, but as a whole their fail rate is by far the worst in the industry imo, and they seem to care very little about this.

I have a G7 and I love it, it's a bit slimmer than a lot of phones so I find it a bit easier to use one handed. The V40 is also out overseas so it should be out here soon, it looks like it's a great phone.

The lg bootlop thing was traced to them using cheap lead free solder which eventually cracked. I havent done the research as i no longer own one but i would assume they fixed that in the later models. My lg g3 never had the problem and was a great phone althougb it did run hot like all the snapdragon chips of that era. Imho you cant beat the samsung amoled screens these days so thats my current phone choice.

Just to throw it into the equation pocophone?

Xiami recently opened a store in NZ so if their products are really dodgy you can easily return it?

I was a long time S7 user, they were a fine phone but damn, that Edge screen was both prone to breaking & expensive to replace. After using an S9 then rejecting it because of the cost, I purchased my first ever mid-range phone, the Galaxy A8, SM-A530F. It's an excellent handset, under $600 retail and I'm yet to find a function that this phone wont do & S9 would - it doesn't record 4K video but I'm not Peter Jackson. It's thinner & lighter than the S9 too. I'd buy this phone again for sure.

Thanks we went with the lg v30+ in the end. So far it hasn't been a flawless experience with the lg transfer failing to transfer anything ended up doing most manually. My wife complains it's not faster nor has Superior battery to submit but will give it a few more days to determine if it may be faulty. Screen is great and fingerprint reader is responsive
