dafman: I read an interesting article yesterday - Apple's commitment to privacy vs Google's data harvesting.

With data harvesting/AI, Google are able to build apps with increasing greater personal utility than Apple (The increasing gap between Assistant vs Siri is a good example). The trade off for this greater utility is less privacy. The problem for Apple is that this utility gap will continue to increase over time - how long will users value privacy if their ability to do new things increasingly compromised?

Google I/O 2019 showed this week how quickly Google AI is advancing. The clear trade off though is privacy - each new AI innovation (especially advancements in Assistant) gives more and more of your personal data to Google.

But do people care? Personally, I'm surprised so many people are happy to put a device in their home (even bedroom) that gives large corporations carte blanche to listen/spy on them 24 hours a day.

The next few years will, at least, be a very interesting time.

I've opened a new thread on above.

amiga500: I have done all the typing in this thread using voice typing using the chrome browser. From what I have read this is something that can't be done on a Macintosh or iPhone as yet. I read something that said that with apple you can dictate notes but you can't write directly into a word processor, or into a forum thread such as this.

Okay, I am a bit slow here.

How do you activate this to enable voice input/dictation?

I have been trying to find where to turn this on with a Chrome Browser and Gmail running on a W10 laptop.

Or are you talking about this only working on a smartphone running Android?
