Echoe: Personally the little extra you will pay for a Xiaomi android one phone is completelyworth it. Stock Android with updates for another two years. Android one runs amazingly well on lower spec'd phones. Plus installing the gcam mod will greatly improve the camera.

Agreed! My Mi A2 Lite came with Android One and it's been seamless, feels far superior to the MiUI of the older models

Can you point to a Xiami Android One phone that is currently available here in NZ. The phones look interesting. The Mi A2 Lite seems to have gone. Thanx.

There are 2 Xiaomi phones in the Android One program - Xiaomi Mi A2 and Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite

Looking at the mi-store site https://www.mi-store.co.nz/products/smart-phones (the official NZ Xiaomi outlet), neither of these phones are sold here officially.

I would imagine they probably dont cover the NZ 4G bands properly - usually missing band 28 - which is a great pity as they do look like awesome phones. There are some for sale on trademe and parallelimported also has them.

Pretty sure there is no version of these 2 phones anywhere that has all the NZ 4G bands.

If you are ok with 3G speed on data - which might be ok most of the time and occasional 4G coverage depending on where you are and what 4G coverage is in your area - then an A2 might be fine.

Have purchased many phones through Einfo and never had an issue, including with warranty returns which they have straight swapped.

No band 28, but for a $270 phone with 2 years of updates well worth it.

Thanx for the info. As I live in a country town Morrinsville I would need band 28 (700) as band 3 (1800) is only available in the CBD. At home cell coverage is not good as as my current phone doesn't do band 28 it falls back to 3G and that's not too wonderful. My Wife has a Nokia 7 Plus and she gets good 4 G on band 28 at home. Waiting to see what Nokia's offering in the dual SIM phones will be like.

I hadn't looked at the cheaper Nokia's, for the price point the Nokia 5.1 seems like a steal. Full HD+ screen, Band 28 with a fairly decent SOC. Running Android One. All for $220.

Theres also the new Redmi 7 (not note 7, for < $200). Snapdragon 632 + B28 support. I mentioned in another thread, but B28 is being used in more countries now, so these phones are starting to include them. Here's a GSM arena link for quick and dirty comparison (note the network info as mentioned before is wrong)

Just had a Redmi Note 7 (non pro) delivered this morning. It's a whole lotta phone for not mcuh.
