No, the Huawei P30 Pro does not have a headphone jack. Reality is, no headphone jack means less cords.

I was Apple until the 7 came out.

Now on S10+ and it's a great phone. I don't have too much of an issue with syncing my Android and OSX world so nothing to hold you back there.

I was a die hard apple fangirl until I found I could no longer justify the prices that new iPhones were selling for. Husband mentioned the Mate Pro20 and I got one. An hour later, he got one too. Really impressed with the features and ease of use swapping from iOS to Android with the EMUI interface. Got it mostly for the camera. In low light, the leica lenses are killer. Battery also blew the old iPhone 7 out of the water!

I have had a number of phones over the last couple of years (both android and iOS).

I tend to always end up back with oneplus, The mate 20 pro drove me nuts with its ram management and killing my gym app and spotify off (while apps were in the background).  As soon as i open the message app or got a phone call the mate 20 pro would just kill most apps.  Battery life on it was great.

S10+ Had this for about 3 weeks, nice phone but battery life was not overly great and the charging speed was awful.

Oneplus 6t, used this for a month, great phone but no dual speaker

iphone xr: Good, great battery life but so boring with home screen, also carplay was awful (have not tried iOS13 beta carplay).

Oneplus 7 pro, over the moon about this phone, did change the 90mhz screen refresh down to 60 to save a little battery life.  But overall good battery life, fast charging (you can get oppo chargers from pbtech now). I buy oneplus red cables from aliexpress with no issues with them.

Interesting take - most folk seem to praise the battery life...indeed it is a huge capacity! Perhaps needs a fair bit of tweaking out of the box to maximise? I also thought it had fast charging???

Cheers

Eeerrr  no. Reality means less options and inferior sound quality.

Less cords? Have you drunken the cool aid?

15 watt is not fast anymore, when you look at oneplus and mate pro 20 etc, samsung charging speeds are just bad.

NikT: No matter what you choose at the high end, you'll get a great phone...

Thanks NiK - really appreciate the thoughtful and detailed input!

I have to say, my gut is telling me "S10+" and after seeing the sample pictures in the other thread post-update I am even more interested. I much prefer the overall image and colour tone from the Samsung over the Huawei, though obviously these reflect very specific shooting conditions.

Audio is also very important to me and if I get the 512gb Ceramic and put 521Gb of SD in there, then I can fit my whole lossless library and use both my Bluetooth and more Audiophile headphones more easily with the jack.

danielparker: I went from an iPhone to a P20 Pro, to a P30 Pro.. No regrets.. the P30 Pro is a great phone.. I also like my GT Watch that came with it. (Had an Apple Watch Previously)

It was certainly top of my list for a while, but the recent shenanigans put me off a bit as well as the ongoing concern as to how secure or "safe" the device will be longer term.

Remember with the shenanigans, all current phones are still being supported.

Last weekend I brought a P30 Pro - moved away from a Nexus 6P. I didn't like the EMUI interface terribly much as I'm used to having more than just home screens so I've replaced the default launcher with Apex.

What do I like about it?
- feels nice in the hand
- 2 days battery life
- super fast charging
- great colours on the display
- excellent camera (although I've not used it much at the moment)
- huge screen real-estate

Apparently you can also make phone calls...

Obviously I'm still in the honeymoon stage. I've ordered this case for it and am awaiting it's arrival as well as the arrival of the smart watch (it'll be my first one!) and earbuds which you claim via redemption. As for the curved screen at the side bezels - first time time I've had a phone with these and they're not being bothersome at this stage, although it is taking a bit of getting used to using them for the 'back' function as opposed to having a soft key. Same with the swipe up for dismissing and closing apps.

EDIT: added link

I am pretty happy with a Bose QuietComfort and a Panasonic - both noise cancelling and with astounding sound.

The deed is done!

I spent some time in the store and in the end it actually came down to the Oppo Vs the Samsung - really liked the feel of the OS coming from Apple and the notchless full screen of the Oppo, but in the end the S10+ Ceramic @ $500 off plus the free wireless charger swung it.

I am paying off interest free with TradeUp so if I hate it I can at least get the new 2020 iPhone when that appears!

...So far though I am very pleased - though it is going to take me a while to get to grips with Android once more.

Thanks for the input all!

Yes - I feel like it will take a while to update the muscle-memory...

If anyone has any Essential tips and tricks, especially around default/recommended apps, security settings and optimising battery life, I would love to hear them.

Cheers

in terms of optimizing battery life, don't touch anything, leave everything on auto as it is. the more i tried to take over killing of apps and turning off things the worse the battery life got.

YMMV
