I found MIUI ok. They take away a couple of useful features, like the one that lets you keep your phone unlocked at home.

How's the in-screen fingerprint reader on the Poco? The Xiaomi P9 in-screen fingerprint reader was so bad I sold the phone a few weeks after I bought it. I miss the performance and cameras of that phone, but unlocking it was a real PITA for me.

Xiaomi hardware with a rear fingerprint sensor and Android One, ideally with a smaller screen, would be fantastic.

Its not quite as good as the dedicated button on my Oneplus5, but half the time I would enter pin anyway depending how I was holding the phone.

In-screen is not as good as a dedicated button, but still marginally faster than entering my PIN, I think its an acceptable trade-off for the screen to body ratio and I'm totally sold on gesture controls after forcing myself to use them for a week.

The worst bit about the finger print reader in my book is that it shines as bright as the sun when you first touch it and wakes up the whole house regardless of which room they're sleeping (slight exaggeration).

For anyone who, like me, was seeing MIUI as the biggest compromise of this phone, the ROM scene has really kicked off now and there is LOS, EvoX, PE etc. all with daily driver ready releases since this weekend.

Yeah it is pretty terrible - I jumped on xiaomi.eu as soon as I could get bootloader unlock but that first week was rough. Worst thing for me was that the volume controls literally disappear if you're casting, and in our house we're nearly always casting to a speaker or TV which shouldn't preclude you from wanting to control the volume on your phone too...

If its not too late you might want to hold off until next update since it's a clean wipe / new base again and you might not want to do that twice in a row.
