An interesting handset but I feel that the flashing disco lights would get old fast.

NikT:

Yep, 5G + VoLTE tested & working with VF/Spark/2d. From memory WiFi calling is a yes for Spark + VF, no for 2d (purely because 2d gates VoWiFi with an allowlist).

Nice piece of kit, really premium build quality. Do recommend having a play in-store if just for curiosity's sake.

Does it come with the stock standard phone, messages etc. from Google or does it ship with Nothing's bespoke apps?

Ships with Google dialer and messages.

As far as I am aware, the Nothing app suite is limited to the launcher, camera, earbuds app, and sound recorder.

As per @NikT, I went in and played with one in the Wellington store yesterday and will pick one up (pending issues with Klarna). Seems like a great, lightweight Android install - the only thing I noticed in ~5minutes of playing with it was some very, very light skinning and font choices and some app differences noted further up the thread.

Anyone know if VoLTE and VoWiFi work with Kogan?

Vodafone and Kogan don't seem to have the exact same requirements (my phone has VoLTE and VoWiFi on Kogan but not Vodafone). Would be interested in this to replace my Essential ph-1 but would want to make sure both of these work first. Not a huge fan of the flashing lights, and would honestly prefer a pixel device, but, the lack of VoLTE and VoWiFi means that that phone is sadly not an option.

Got one the other day.
The s22 is a similar price and has a better camera system...but I'm enjoying the interface and form factor over the Samsungs. Hopefully the updates sort the camera as it's not as reliable as my pixel 3a's

Sorry, I had missed this.

I have two SIMs in mine - Voda (work) and Kogan (personal). Voda works fine with both VoLTE/VoWIFI, but Kogan only appears to function on VoLTE. I mention two SIMs as I'm conscious there can be functionality/capability differences between the two in some phones (not that I've noticed any in the case of the Nothing 1), and I haven't had any reason to switch them between slots.

Got my Nothing Phone (12GB RAM, 256GB storage), VoLTE working wonderfully - I haven't tested the 5G capabilities. So far everything is going wonderfully - I use Google Workspace and a custom domain.

Edit: My mobile phone carrier is Skinny.

My Pixel 5a died like so many others. Was so frustrated with the support experience and Google's evasive attitude that I elected to support Nothing instead. ExpertInfotech have the 128 on sale for $648.

Great phone - basically stock android, great physical design, amazing screen, super snappy, and actual volte and 5g support (spark for me).

Provides a legitimate alternative to Pixels whilst one waits for Google to get its act together (5a failures, no volte/5g, camera glass-gate, no NZ support)

These are dirt cheap at E infotech atm. Extremely tempting at this price, not sure about compatibility or potential handset issues.

Yup that's where I got mine from, went with 128 for even less $.

Better compatibility than recent pixels - 4G, VoLTE and 5G fired up instantly.
