Can I ask previous owners of the Fold or the Flip - does the screen protector eventually need replacing? Or has anyone had a foldable that haven't had the up screen layer bubble up after a year or two?

Yes, my ZFold3’s inner screen protector lifted along the fold line after about a year. Replaced by Samsung for free. The service centre has a special machine to fit it properly (apparently).

Thanks for that. Do you know how much it would cost to replace the screen protector out of warranty?

It sounds like it's something you just need to keep doing as part of owning a foldable.

Yes had the internal screen protector lift up in the center just got my repaired one back today.

It falls into 2 categories just needing the protector replaced but more likely as I was advised if the hinge fails to fully open then the entire screen needs to be replaced they wont just replace the protector in my instance however as the warranty is 2 years my mid cycle(not day one about half way through the release cycle) fold 3 was still fully covered and it was completley free of charge and no back and foward about it they just did it.

Thanks, nice feedback.

Just a hassle. I noticed there are screen protectors for sale for folding devices.

Can I ask why not just do it yourself?

Only screen protectors that I could find where for the outside screen.

Bit of a pain but the samsung backup software works relatively well and effectively the phone feels like new.

As it was my phone was needing a reinstall as I have been having Bluetooth issues with the car hands free(tried everything else last option any support document gave was a format) so took it as an opportunity to do so however the samsung one will let you backup to a USB drive everything unlike the google one which in the past has backed up very little. More in line with how the iPhone did it when I did that back in the day.

There are 3 new things I picked up for NZ.

  1. Skysports now free for three months. Don't know how to use it :)
  2. Samsung Care+ like AppleCare+ was in Australia but now here too and free for one year with preorder.
  3. Online exclusive colour, same rationale, was available in Australia EPP but now available on NZ EPP. Only one colour though grey.

According to my post in the ZF3 thread (2 Nov 22) it’s $50 for the inner and $30 for the front screen protectors (fitted).

So at the current rate of inflation that is about $1000 for each 😁

So is it worth upgrading from fold 4 to fold 5?

nakedmolerat: So is it worth upgrading from fold 4 to fold 5?

I’m not updating my ZF3 to the 5, so (imo) even less reason to go 4 to 5.

The two biggest improvements that would make me change, involve the S-Pen. If they made its carriage internal (like the S23U) and it worked on the front screen as well, then I would see value in shelling out $3K to upgrade from the ZF3. The ZF6 maybe?

Doesn't on the 3, not sure about the 4 or 5. I would like it to, because the keyboard on the front screen is difficult to use in portrait mode (fat finger syndrome).

Well I was just on the Support chat about some other issues and the support person said that yes, the s-pen did work on the front screen.

But I guess that can only really be confirmed by someone who has used the device.. or until there are demo models in stores.

That would definitely be a requirement for me, to move from the S22 ultra. That, and Dual Physical SIM's

That case means it won’t sit flat on a table when open.

Actually, based on this video it looks like it will be flush and will sit flat! Definitely a big improvement but still waiting for the day the Fold has a S Pen silo.
