Not to mention some of us have no issues with GPS performance whatsoever...

Go for the galaxy, its a good phone.

Yes some people have gps issues but that is really the only remaining flaw with it.
The camera is so so but no camera phones are that great anyway.
No flash on the camera but most out there use LED flashes anyway which dont really add anything, you really need a xenon flash for it to be worthwhile.

regaridng the GPS issues, it is widespread and seems to come and go, people have theories of driver issues, the chipset overheating etc etc, it affects all the variants of the galaxy (all 4 american versions too)....
The chipset itself is very new.. but the specs for it look great (tracking 20 satellites, and is meant to be very sensitive) so we are hoping its a driver issue and just needs tweaking... also included in this chipset is a fm transmitter by the way so in the future you might be able to broadcast to your fm radio from the galaxy.
and of course some people never notice a problem with the gps so it is probably some cmbination of things that triggers it on some phones etc but so far no firmware has fixed it and the fixes that users have posted are just for A-GPS.

The lag issues are easily fixed and with each new firmware the speed is creeping up.  It still makes a world of difference using the external sdcard for storage though.

The UI well you get used to it, its not so horrid.. just not that best but its still android underneath :)

Isn't the Milestone locked down so that you can't change the rom, leaving users with only Android 1.6? If so, I'd avoid that one.

Im a complete Noobie with Android OS Phones, but im pretty sure it doesnt come with 1.6. Every review ive watched + even Telecom Announcing it said it will come with 2.0/2.1

Oh ok, yeah I got the version number wrong.

I just checked though and it appears that it is locked down, so no updates except those released by Motorola. Personally, if I go Android, I want to be able to do what I like with the device.
