M_I_C_H_A_E_L: Im on 2D and just went from 1:59am - 3:00am automatically :)

In most cases this is nothing to do with the network, it's simply the phone being aware of DST.

If you've got a Nokia made in the last ~8 years it will automatically change time, the only catch being if it does not have newer firmware that is aware of the DST changes a few years ago then it won't change on the correct dates,

Vodafone do not support network time updates. This has been discussed numerous times on here. While it is a nice feature it's actually supported by very few GSM/WCDMA carriers around the world.

I would like to know this as well. Seems pretty poor service to not correct your customers phones.
Even when they return home from holiday would be great to have the time set back to NZ time.

The problem is this can create far more issues that it solves. If people have calendar entries etc then the potential to mess these up if they are created in a different incorrect timezone is quite high.

My phone is actually something I always keep on NZ time when travelling, in part so I always know the time back in NZ no matter where I am!

Android is Linux and linux does time zones and daylight time shifts. No worries.

I think your correct. My Winmo 6.1 on Voda didn't update but I noticed that the dual time of Melbourne I have on this fone was no 3 hours behind us so WinMo new of daylite savings but not Vodafone. Time to get your act together guys..

As I explained above phones changing time has nothing to do with the network and everything to do with the handset.

Most new handsets know about daylight saving time. They will automatically change themselves regardless of the network. Network time simply means that your phone time never needs setting correctly in the first place.

That was the Android OS doing its job, not Vodafone.

Well VF's time was from my experience always about a minute out from the Atomic Clock. With a 2D SIM card in my phone, it's only 6 seconds. That's pretty good.

At work I've been worth Voda for 11 years and I have never seen any of my GSM fones update at DL savings. Yesterday my CDMA, XT and 2D fones all updated when I turned them on but no the Vodafone one..

If your Vodefone is an Android phone then it would / should have updated to DST by itself. The operating system contains a table of time zones. If you have the Time zone set to New Zealand (Menu -> Settings -> Date & Time) then it would / should have automatically adjusted the phone's time. You just need the date, time and time zone set correctly on your phone. I'm assuming you checked the time zone? I've seen people just change the time to the correct time...and leave the time zone set to whatever the default time zone is (China Central time, European Central Time.....whatever)....and then they don't get the correct DST changes.

Alarm clock on my I9000 did not go off this morning as usual... even though time was correctly forwarded one hour ahead but the alarm(set for 6:30am) went off at 7:30am!

Also the dual clock widget did not adjust accordingly, had to remove and add.

It was not an Android fone but a WinMo besides not everyone has an Android fone yet..
