Anyone have any idea the difference between the regional firmwares? Ie, is there any disadvantage in using the UK firmware (would that be the recommended one out of UK, Nordic and Singapore)?

Sorry can't answer your question directly, but i'm using nordic region on my mini pro atm, switched region the day the update was released and have had no issues since. Rooted and restored apps + data with titanium, all good :-D

I decided to ring Sony Ericsson to see where our update is and apparently it is still a little while away. He is going to email me and I will pass it on.

Ah I couldn't wait any longer!

Flashed with UK firmware last night (XDA link from page 1) and all running sweet!  Fonts are a little different but that's all good.

Also rooted using this XDA method:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824788

And worked - note for my x10 mini pro I had to do the "disable then enable USB debugging" thing at the end to make it finish.  Also, the root test at the end appeared to hang so I just disconnected the phone, but have tried a root app and all good so far!

So now have a rooted X10 mini pro running Android 2.1 - sweet!
