Until you get your 'Martin-Jetpack', you won't need 3D routing... :)

Even without the 3D buildings the Compass Rotation bit is pretty damn good!

Anyone get stuck behind a truck and 43ft trailer in Featherston st this morning? It wasn't me but I'd showed him where to go using the new Google maps and it blew his mind!

PS: Anybody got a screenie of the market update? Is it for 2.2 and above maybe?

The Market update hasn't rolled out to us yet, should happen in the next week or so according to Google. Some people have had problems with the Market after unofficially installing it, so I've resisted the urge so far.

I got the market update yesterday 16th. Didnt have to download, was just pushed to phone, Nexus One. Maybe i have auto update on :-)

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

That's the one... I dont have it yet... weird.
I keep checking market every half hour though! Laughing

I recieved a tweet about it from AndroidNZ earlier today and even rebooted to see if it was up yet. Oh well, time will tell.
At least it's available for 2.1

It'll get pushed at some stage, not surprising to hear the Nexus 1 already has it...

While the N1 has it fairly early one (I got mine a few days ago), the N1 can't support the rotate map function because of hardware limitations. I am not sure how big a deal this is but the rotate option looked cool on the videos Google released showing that functionality on the Nexus S.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

I think it's a server-side change because I don't have auto update on and I got the new interface without updating the app. I guess that Google is redirecting batches of phones to new servers as a staged rollout.

RE: Market update - I had it yesterday morning, awoke to find it on the phone. Nice.

RE: Rotation in new maps - not supported on Nexus One/Desire as not true multitouch on those handsets, works on many others, brilliant feature and works well on my Galaxy S.

Re: rotation of maps...that's interesting. I though the Desire is not true multi touch either, yet I can rotate the map...

That is interesting, I think it was Google themselves who said that feature wasn't supported for the Desire (I guess what they meant was there is no guarantee of its performance).

That is interesting indeed...and it's true...performance is not the greatest. It feels like you have to drag it kicking and screaming into the new rotated position!
