freitasm: The only way around it is by under declaring the value of goods being imported, in which case the buyer and seller would be doing something illegal.

Which was why I originally ask they question as to whether anyone was cancelling their orders.

Even after GST it's still often cheaper to purchase from overseas. I wouldn't buy from a site that did dodgy things like lying about the value of the item. What happens if it gets lost in transit and an insurance claim needs to be made?

Clove even state on their terms that they will not alter values on documents.
They also have a top notch reputation. Mobicity in the other hand have anything but....

To be honest if it was .co.nz and didn't specifically say not in NZ etc then I too would not expect GST. And I'd be bloody annoyed to have to pay it in that circumstance

I agree with you about Clove, but since when did Mobicity have a bad reputation?

I've ordered from Mobicity and found their service to be good. It is pretty clear when they charge in Australian dollars when you go to purchase (even on the NZ site).

As mentioned before, if Clove offered a .co.nz, then they'd get the same complaints from freeloaders trying to avoid GST.

Of course, if Mobicity do have a really bad rep, please let us know why, so we can be well informed.

In several discussions about where to buy things I have been told to avoid mobicity.
This is not the first time they have had their GST habits discussed
