Wade: Sign the 2D $129/mth plan on 24mth term to get the Optimus 2X for $250, and either pay early transfer fee or early termination fee, either way you get a great phone for a great price without any of the parallel imported goods potential issues

I find $30 per month more than adequate for moderate prepaid use - ie. $10 for 100mb data, $10 for 2,000 txt and $10 for voice calls. Therefore, on the above deal, I would be paying about $2,400 just for the handset over the 24 mth contract. Parallel import for approx $700 sounds the way to go!

$250 initial buy-in + $285 early plan transfer down to a $29/mth pay monthly plan, yes you are still locked in for the duration of the term but if you are happy with 2D that shouldn't pose a problem, means you buy a phone locally with complete piece of mind which in worst case scenario (cancel plan after 1 month) costs you just over $800 best case costs you $515

Isn't the Incredible S just running an older Qualcomm processor?

Sony Ericsson's Arc would also just fit into that range as well.
I'm expecting to get mine this week.. Now if only time would hurry up!

The Arc looked like a great option for me until I realised it didn't have a dual core processor.

At the moment what can a dual core do that a single core can't (ignoring video capture) I have a DHD and no app is even laggy. And there is no point to 1080 or even 720p playback when most screens are only 480p high

Although dual core would future proof but only for maybe an extra 6 months

If you play games I think it is quite important, a lot of the newer games required a dual core to run at a decent speed. The reason for recording at 1080p is so that you can watch it on a 1080p display, do you only ever watch video on your phone? also some of them will output 1080p to a TV via mini hdmi or MHL cable.

I have an SG-S and can recommend it. Especially now it is upgradeable to the "JVH" formware and Android 2.3.3.

The key benefits of the SG-S versus most other phones are:

- Beautiful (Super AMOLED) 4" screen.
- 2GB of internal app storage. No need to use Apps to SD. Most Android phones only have 300MB - at best.
- Fast 1GHz ARM7 processor, so supports apps that REQUIRE ARM7: Flash 10.x, Google Earth, many games
- 8GB or 16GB internal SD plus support for external SD up to 32GB - so the phone can do 48GB all up.
- Built in wifi hotspot - easy to use.
- Can take screen shots without root (Press BACK, then when in the app, press HOME)

Disadvantages

- Samsung Kies.....though this has improved a fair bit.
- GPS isn't the best. But it works. I use it when I have to...and it is (just) good enough.

Advice: BUY A SPARE BATTERY!!!! Preferably two. (I have 3).

You will be surprised how much smoother web browsing is, as well as running games and loading large files!

lokhor: Dude for $800 you can get a lot of high end phones especially if you buy it online. Check out pricespy.co.nz. I think you can get a dual core LG Optimus 2X for less than $800.

You can actually get the LG Optimus x2 for like $650 lol why not get a dual core phone :)
