BigHammer: Last time I tried it, custom LED colours still didn't work on the Desire. Handcent SMS has had no trouble with this for many moons. Will try it out again and see if they've rectified this minor issue.

The SGS doesn't have an LED, so no issues here. I've made it my main SMS after a couple of days. I really like it - so far. :-)

I gave it a go today, but have gone back to Handcent which for my purposes is better.

You using free or paid version? I have the paid version.

I also put the pics on my GMail account contacts (in GMail...not on the phone)...and they sync to the phone in Go SMS Pro just fine.

I have used Go SMS Pro for ages without issue but last week my ex had to uninstall it as it was sending tests to random numbers in her contacts when she was replying to texts she had been sent.
Quite worrying. Touch wood I have never had that happen.

Might try Handsent one as I only hear good things.

What issues do people have with the stock app? I tried Go SMS Pro, but didn't find it offered anything the stock app didn't for me.

I use Go SMS Pro as it looks a bit better and when you get a message there is a very convenient pop-up.

There isn't a lot of advantage over the stock messenger, that's why I only bother with the free version.

I have a Defy and one of the best things about the current Motorola phones is the Universal Inbox, if Go SMS Pro didn't work with that it would be gone.

I manage email from the universal inbox but as I mostly send text from my phone it can be useful to have a separate button for text. You know it saves a click and that's a whole quarter of a second I could spend ... doing ... whatever.

If anybody comes up with something truly revolutionary please message me, somehow.

I tired it for a few days but soon got sick of it. Did not work very well at all.

I frequently get SMS alerts from a few numbers so I like it's ability to have a custom alert for my 'alerts' group for when I'm on call.

It's also handy to set a certain LED colour for when the MRS txts me. I found handcent drained my battery in around 1 day, same for Chomp.

Anyone know how to set it so the app automatically deletes old messages from each thread when the thread gets to a specified limit? i.e. 30 messages per thread.

I used to have it set up but after having to reinstall the app from a bug i cant seem to find the setting anymore :/

The setting is under the stock messaging application.
