It's an inconvenience.  I have to re-install all my apps.

The phone works fine now. No idea what caused it.

I'm looking forward to the upgrade to Android v2.3 that is due in the next month or so.

Android 2.2 is not so bad .... but yes official 2.3 upgrade on the USA/Canada models would be awesome !!!

Out of interest.... Are you on Vodafone/2Degrees or Telecom

Im curious Do you get good 3g signal and  data speeds   UTMS and HSDPA display on the phone here in Auckland

I am on Vodafone
On my 5 inch Dell Streak (USA Android version 2.2)  I only have 3g icon but can see if I go to  Status of phoine number and signal I can see the change to UTMS and HSDPA as Im moving around.

Hi

I bought the Rogers one because it is compatible with Telecom XT (850MHz / 2100MHz). The Vodafone version would not work well on Telecom at all....and I wanted to go to Telecom because they give me 4 times as much data for the same money.

I also wanted a Telecom XT-compatible phone because it perfectly matches the frequency profile I need in Canada....where I am right now. I just put a Bell Mobility SIM in my Optimus 3D and it works perfectly and I have good coverage everywhere. A Vodafone 3G frequency set barely works in North America as so few people here use 2100MHz and 900MHz for data. GSM is fine....but Bell don't do GSM (like Telecom NZ don't do GSM  - both have come from CDMA).

How is the battery life. Is it as bad as some reviews say. They say overnight on standby its good but when you start using it the battery drops at alarming rate and if you start heavy use, it drops 25% in 20 minutes.  Sounds like you wouldnt get a  day out of it.  Otherwise it looks good

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard  graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner,  Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

It's a smartphone with a big, beautiful screen and dual-core 1GHz processor.

If I go to bed at night and disable data and sync it will lose perhaps 3%-4% over 8 hours....if that.

But if you use it, it will eat battery. All these phones eat battery. I've reduced a Nexus One from 100% to 15% in 80 minutes with all guns blazing: GPS, wifi, bluetooth, 3G data and non-stop browsing and frequent photo uploads over 3G.

This sort of use will kill any phone. There is no phone that can do that and not eat battery. They don't exist.

So the answer is MORE POWER.

I bought a Belkin 4000maH power pack with two USB ports. It lets me charge two devices at once from it. The battery in it will recharge an LG Optimus 3D - fully - twice over. No problems going all day with one of these in your pocket.

Having been using smartphones for over 3 years now, I have well and truly gotten over the Nokia 1100-like battery expectations......and adapted.  I'm loving this phone. I must as it is still on Android 2.2 and used to get the shakes if I was more than8 hours behind the latest Android version release. :-)

I took this photo just now with my Optimus 3D. I re-sized it in GIMP so GZ would let me upload it. For 3D "free viewing" just look at the left image and cross your eyes slightly until the right image merges into the left....and you'll see 3D.

Stereo 3D of my Belkin power pack

I've had a good chance to compare the glasses-free 3D display on the HTC Evo 3D with that of the LG Optimus 3D.

No contest. The LG Optimus 3D kicks arse. The HTC Evo 3D's display too easily shows the 'banding' as you look across it trying to find the sweet spot where your left eye sees the left image and your right eye sees the right image. The LG looks so much better.

If you're buying one of these for the 3D functionality, then the LG Optimus 3D is the better phone.....even though the HTC phone is faster and has more RAM. It just doesn't look as good....and for 3D the view is the most important thing.

The HTC phone also produces MPO files....which are fine, except if you want to post them on Google Plus or other sites as stereo 3D images you'll have to convert them first. Whereas the  LG Optimus 3D outputs *.JPS images that can be readily posted pretty much anywhere as side by side jpegs for stereo "free viewing". The LG Optimus 3D also integrates really well with YouTube...with most 3D videos on YouTube seamlessly playing - glasses free - on the LG's nice, big screen.

I havbe been playing with both phones.... I love them both
I really love the 2d to 3d conversion gimmick on the LG Optimus 3D (I have the AT&T P925) when viewing mp4
I have gone to XDA developers and downloaded the APK for FM radio... it works, but crashes from time to time...unfortunatly  the FM reception is not strong :-( but it works

I've been using this as a work phone for a while now and have come to a few conclusions.

-The screen is rubbish compared to SAMOLED/Nova/Retina displays. TFT LCDs don't compare these days.
-LG UI is basic and ugly
-Battery life not bad, two days with moderate usage.
-Device is really heavy

Interestng.

I like the LG Optimus 3D screen. The resolution is great for 50+ eyes that really like slightly larger characters. :-)

Now availible for $499 without contract on Vodafone Website, First Mobile and Digital Mobile
Also pricespy had it for $498 at Cool Mobile for $498 - I brought one on Saturday 24 12 2011
It's VF branded :)

Has option for Video calling to your Vodafone friends  - Great if you got that option on best mate... otherwise it costs a fortune :-)

The  USA AT&T LG Thrill (Optimus)  P925  version does not have the Video calling option (I have this  phone as well)

Its got preloaded 3D games and sample 3D video's

My Friends at work are very impressed.... and envious!!! (Iphone 4S owners... PRICELESS)
