That's interesting - is it Johan Cloeten's ShootMe? I use that one, but it definitely requires Root...

timmmay: It seems odd that with Apple it's just a keypress, with Android you need to root it and install an app.

Depends on the phone.

Samsung Galaxy S you just push a button...non-rooted.

it is kinda a special case for lg optimus one
ShootMe works on unrooted lg optimus

Ah yes, I recall that now - its happened with a couple of other handsets too (HTCs Evo 4G was the same, but HTC removed the capability in an update which rather angered users).

Believe all 2011 Sony Ericsson XPERIA phones running Android v2.3.4 will have a screen snapshot option.
