Pretty frustrating being so far behind on updates, I don't see why it should take the NZ telcos any longer to push out an update.

It's just the way Telecom NZ work

If the update is available for download on that site, how do you apply it?

It's not the update, it's the kernel source. They all link to the same file.

Oh right, should've guessed... time to ask Telecom how long it's going to take to push it out

I tried that and they told me they didn't handle the updates :/

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Who would then? I really doubt HTC does it themselves, and if we got the Asia region update it looks like we'd be getting 1.29 by now, with 1.28 on our phones over a week ago

They do handle them but finding someone who knows anything about updates is not easy.

The first and only update if received post 1.26 was this one which came directly from HTC. Carrier was HTC, region is Euro.

One X | HTC | EU | QMR1 | 2.6.39 | v4.0 | 111.00MB | 1.28.401.9

The listed Telecom one is:

One X | Telecom | NZ | QMR1 | 2.6.39 | v4.0 | 111.00MB | 1.28.781.9

Same kernel but a different description.

Funnily enough I don't see any 1.29 list, so wonder where that came from.

Cheers

How has the latest update affected the Battery? People complain about the battery life of the phone, but once the "Honeymoon" stage is over, I assume it will be similar to any iPhone.

On 1.28, the battery life is just average real world )not sh1te, but not great). Truth is, if you make calls, use some WiFi, browse the web, answer some emails, play some music, take some photo's and post them to FB, alot, all in one day....

You should probably have a car charger and or a spare charger either at work or home to give the device a top up, should it need it, which ain't hard unless you're soft.

Cheers

I don't find mine any worse than my old iPhone, infact maybe a bit better.

I have GTA3 and x-plane on the device and play them on my breaks at work, plus gmail, calls and text, I get thru the day fine on 1 charge.

Today it has been off charge for 13hr 18mins and I still have 52% left.
