The main thing that I have noticed so far is better battery life, but I'm not seeing much other differences.

The biggest difference is that you can now install/move apps to the SD card, freeing up precious space on the phone. Another big change is support for Adobe Flash 10.1, meaning which you can browse most Flash websites properly... unlike some over-hyped devices. *cough*

actually, i've had 2.2 on my phone for about a month, and passively/periodically check the market for Adobe Flash 10.1 ... I hear only Nexus Ones can see it in the market?

Can anyone else with non-rooted OTA 2.2 Desire see it in the market, or is it just me?

Hmm, according to the Adobe page, Flash 10.1 is supposed to be included with the OTA update:

"HTC Desire — Included with the Android 2.2 update from HTC."

hmm, that's wierd ... i tried the market search again, and it gave me no results. I thought I would try searching from the appbrain website and it told me I already had Adobe Flash Player on my phone o.o

I went into the appbrain app on my phone, and it said an update was available for it, but then when i try to view the market page it can't find anything.

Anyways, does anyone know how to check what version of flash is running on my browser ? Can't see it in the settings menu (stock browser).

Go into "Settings" --> "Applications" --> "Manage Applications"

Click on "Adobe Flash Player 10.1" and it'll tell you which version you have in there.

I've got v10.1.92.8 on my rooted Desire.

How can I update it with the market if the market can't see it? (and without bothering with apk's etc if possible)

Has your desire been branded by T-Mobile? Just wondering as mine is and I'm still waiting to see an available OTA Froyo update.

Hi MCONZ,

Nope, I was lucky and got the last unbranded one that they had in stock at the time.

They had a whole lot more coming in later that day that were going to be T-Mobile (I think) branded.

I picked one up and it is T-Mobile branded, so will try and get someone with some knowledge to possibly root it.

Unrevoked have released a one click root for 2.2 on some phones. First release might have an issue though but worth keeping an eye on.

It's a one click root once you have done a lot of mucking around to make sure you have the right drivers installed properly, and have setup the phone right.

It's not hard, but describing it as "one-click" wouldn't pass advertising standards in NZ for example :-)

I used the unrevoked successfully on my HTC Desire when it came with 2.1... I doubt they have changed the approach significantly.

The various guides all seem to miss things. One is that the unrevoked needs to be run as administrator on 64bit win7 at least.

OK. Are you sure that what you did and what they just released (and removed again) is the same thing? Just seems strange for them to call it one click when its not? I cant find anything that gives me any idea how it works yet, just have to wait I guess.

OK. Are you sure that what you did and what they just released (and removed again) is the same thing? Just seems strange for them to call it one click when its not? I cant find anything that gives me any idea how it works yet, just have to wait I guess.

I'm pretty sure yes... When I did it, it was promoted as "one click" and I had to go find detailed guides for how to set everything up so I could then make that one click :-)

I'm not sure about other platforms, but on Linux, for me, it was certainly one-click. All I had to do was plug the phone in and open the reflash program. Actually you could even call it zero click as I didn't have to click anywhere in the program!

(About the phone part, I always leave my phone in usb debugging mode (it's the default btw) as many apps need it, like Titanium Backup and adb)

It is different in Windows... the driver is part of the HTC Sync suite. In Linux I believe it's all included in unrevoked.
