"Thank you for the email.

We sincerely apologise for the error, this is clearly a human error at the packing stage and we understand how frustrating it can be.

Thus we will get this resolved with the highest priority.

We shall have the Desire HD shipped today with DHL with some complimentary accessories.  The tracking number will be sent to you a little later today.

We will need to get the incorrect, HTC Desire back to us and here we have 3 options.

  1. We arrange a DHL collection from you.  We will cover all costs of course.  This will involve DHL arranging an appropriate time to collect from you.  Depending on your circumstances it may be collected from work or a home address, but you will be required to be available during the specified time frame.

  2. You return it via the mail services to us at your expense.  Tell us how much it cost and we shall have all costs reimbursed to you.

  3. You can purchase the HTC Desire at a heavily discounted rate, to either keep yourself or sell on locally.  This cost would be £240 (£45 less than the normal price)

If you could reply, confirming which option you would like to proceed with and I will take the necessary action.

Once again I do apologise for this error and hope that we can resolve the situation for you.

Regards

Since had a few emails back and forth between us about arranging pickup of the desire, and they have agreed to marking down the price of the phone for the customs info. avoiding the GST on 2nd phone since they are sending it via the DHL shipping to be quicker.

So anyway if anyone wants a new desire(A8181) for around $550 let me know.

Otherwise I'll get them to arrange pickup of it.

(and yes they did spell apologize wrong, the grammar nazi told me)

That's not wrong, that's British!... Oh, nicely played :)

Anyway good to see that they seem to be interested in resolving it quickly. DHL should have the phone to you pretty fast, they aren't horribly slow like the postal services.

Mobicity HTC Desire HD Open Box Special - $889

http://www.mobicity.co.nz/htc-desire-hd-obs.html#tabContainer

Q: What is an Open Box Special?
A: Open Box Specials are phones that are as-new. The box has been opened in order for the handset to be demonstrated to our consultants or a customer 48-hour change of mind. They still come with a full 12-month warranty and unless otherwise noted are in a very good condition.

I decided open box special wasn't really worth the discount for me, but some one might want to snap this up. If you do decide to buy, make sure you click share & save to get $25 discount coupon.

For all those complaining about delays with there ordered gear, if you haven't seen any news the weather is terrible in the northern hemisphere the bad weather and all the snow has closed airports and backed up all mail so nothing is getting anywhere at the mo.

Apologise IS spelt apologise unless you're American then its with a z.
The US spelling commonly replaces an 's' with a 'z' on many words.

Anyhoo, I use DHL express a lot for work and they are very fast internationally but pricey.

Got an OTA update for the DHD on Christmas day.  Now shows as 1.72.405.3 and Android 2.2.1.  Haven't seen any changes in operation or performance apart from having to reset my default ringtones.  Anyone else noticed any differences?

I have checked regularly but no updates. Just checked now and still says phone is up to date there are no updates for the phone.   android 2.2   build is 1.32.405.6.

How is the volume, has the update improved that.   My phone gives for Bahrain, Qatar etc.  Can I change firmware for Australia since there wont be one for NZ.

I think the speakers are improved. Before you update : if you want to be able to root your phone in the future, get radio s-off. The ota will remove s-off through eng hboot, and it also patches the bug that visionary uses, so there is no way to root the phone at the moment (potentially, there will never be) unless you did radio s-off before updating. (Radio s-off allows you to flash an old, vulnerable rom and then root).

It is also possible to flash the update through clockwork and then follow some steps to restore the root through adb and fastboot, since clockwork will not apply the hboot, radio, or kernel updates. (You can apply the radio and kernel manually with fastboot). This is what I have done, it's working well but is a hassle to do for every ota update, hopefully someone will automate it.

Ota update went well, battery usage seems better. Haven't spent much time with the camera since update but that is supposedly an area of improvement.Seems more responsive though that could be emperors new clothes effect.
Swype beta has reopened, I was previously using 1.6 apk but this latest version is quite alot better and is very smooth to use. Hard to go back to the old keyboard during the reinstall of the latest version. Get in quick ,not sure how long it will last.
Also make sure you set browser to mobile version as otherwise it won't recognise your mobile as an android phone when you open the download linl from Swype.
Merry Xmas and happy new year.

took photos at beach this morning and looking on computer just noticed the time and date is 12 and half hours earlier, even though it is corect on the phone.

Still no ota rom update.  Downloaded the 2.2.1 from XDA and put on sd card.  It came up with installing and all looked good. But then it restarted and had a red triangle and nothing happened.  I thought it was bricked. In the end I took battery out and restarted and I was able to do recovery and thankfully that brought it back.

I was fortunate enough to also have Samsung Galaxy S and it is hard to choose. I like screen colours on the HTC better but battery life is much better on Samsung.  The voulume is much better on Samsung.  But watching movies on HTC with headphones the sound is amazing on HTC, almost like the cinema, much better than Samsung.  I have found ring volume can be loud but movies you cant hear from arm length away through speaker at full volume.  I put one movie on where it has low voulume on tv and another where voulume is very loud on same settings on tv.  Funny thing is they are both the same on the HTC.   Both on the Samsung are loud and easy to hear even 5 meters away.

i did the ota update last night and since then it's been doing a couple of weird things.

first, the latest Swype Beta stopped working so i had to reinstall it again. but then i found that every now and then, Swype will just not work. for example, i'll start swiping words but it won't register (it shows the trail though). to fix this, i have to change the input method to something else and then back. it's a bit annoying as i didn't have that problem prior to the update.

the second one is with txts. when i get a txt and open it by just going through "Messages", the message icon in the notification bar doesn't disappear. i have to go in the notification bar and tap the actual message notification form there to get rid of it.

anyone had similar issues after the update? or any other issues?

I succeded today following this.  http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890

Havent used swype but tested messages by sending text to myself and also email from facebook and all works well. Notification icon and sound. They dissapear when i open the message.
I hoped after installing this rom I could choose country like NZ or Aus. But again only limited to Bahrein Qatar etc.  I had to do full setup and reinstall apps. So far working well, time will tell.
