Just downloading the update now, will have to wait until I get home to pick up the dock one though :(

Thanks for the tip about the firmware update, it's downloaded (11MB) and it's being applied now :)

CM: Hi all - I assume we've all got the new firmware update (well two updates for those who have the dock)?

Looks like a good one. Love having the mouse cursor instead of that dumb circle, and the compass error issue (which came up constantly when using anythign GPS related, and also during some games like Air Attack HD) seems to have disappeared.
Apparently the keyboard lag has also improved noticably, there are reductions in RAM use, and the space-bar issue in the YouTube ap seems to be fixed too (although I needed to do a 'hard reset'* to get that one sorted).

In the US they are all excited as they can use Netflix now.

I guess the next big thing to look out for is the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android (4.x), expected in less 90 days now.

*Hard reset: Unplug the power cord and shut the unit off and Press and Hold the power button and the "Down" volume button together until after the normal start up screen appears and is joined by some small print at the top of the screen then let them both go. After a few seconds you should see a couple of shapes in the middle of the screen called "Wipe Data" and "Android". Wait a few more seconds until the term "Cold Boot" appears in the list near the top of the screens and just press and release the "Down" volume button again and let it reboot. If you own the dock be sure and do this with the dock connected.

Was wondering what it would do, thanks for the info.

btw i dont think a 2nd press of the down volume  button iis required 4 cold boot

Would be really pleased if this update also made the browser more stable

No worries. Came through on mine at 9pm last night. We seem to have gotten it before the Americans as they have only been seeing it in the last 9 hours or so.
Everyone seems to be very happy with all the little improvements.
Not sure what the dock update did, hard to tell. Perhaps it's part of the keystroke-lag improvement (although I haven't really noticed any problem in the week I've had mine).

If anyone comes across a great app, please tell the rest of us!
I like the Windows Hotmail one.

One thing I noticed a couple of days ago which was annoying - sometimes when bringing up a music video in the YouTube app it will actually just be a Chinese (?) advert. Or sometimes it's just some kids mucking about (yer typical home-made vid). Doesn't happen when running the same video through YouTube website on a browser though. Weird. Will try to find an example. I had to choose about the sixth Mumford and Sons video in the search result list to actually get Mumford and Sons.

The update applied fine. The only thing i've noticed so far is the GPS seems to work better now. What other changes are there?

Mostly just fixes, as identified in my first post this morning. Big one for US users is Netflix working again. Biggest one for the rest of us (with docks) is probably the cursor option (you can choose mouse instead of circle).

Strangely I don't seem to have that YouTube issue anymore (well at least not at this moment in time). But surely a firmware upgrade couldn't have sorted that out? Weird.

I should really get around to signing up for netflix, given I have a VPN to the US. Does anyone know if they accept a non-US credit cards?

They do, but beware, your bank will probably automatically block the credit card immediately, due to a lot of scammers using international credit cards

They called me 5 minutes after my transaction however and I had it unblocked :)

Cool, thanks. Just read it. Have found the 10% off voucher. Did you just go for the 3 month plan?

Just had a look at Astril and are a little confused. Does one have to signup for an SSL account and a VPN account or does the one fee provide both?

Looks like you just buy a membership (3 months, 6 months, 1 year).

Here is the discount link.
http://nathaniell.com/astrill-discount-from-mr-vpn
If you click on the "10% discount" blue hypertext it takes you to the regular pricing page but has the discount in red writing above the 'Signup' buttons.
So 3 months becomes US$23.36 (which at the moment is NZ$28.13, or NZ$9.37 a month). Seems pretty reasonable if it works well. At that discounted rate a 12 month subscription works out at $5.96 a month. But presumably most people would opt for the shorter length until they know it works (and well) for them.

You just sign up once, one fee for all services. I got the year subscription, the cost was negligible, and performance is really good.
