Should be easy to sort, it just uses a Micro USB charger

so just charge off your PC, or bend the plugs to fit, or get a travel adapter/converter, or pickup a whole new plug from Jaycar/PB Tech

Have been playing with the Nexus 5 this evening... both a Black one and White one. A very capable handset for a very reasonable price.

We share some initial impressions on the NZ Tech Podcast (online later tonight) and will try and fit in further thoughts next week. I know it's been discussed here - be we also quizzed 2degrees' Tim Hayward about the pricing.

So ----> $453 NZD (from $363 USD) + $23.25 NZD + $116 NZD = $590 (not using calculator lol)

If all goes well..............oh wait ...the charger will be american...could i buy an adapter from a cheap $2 shop ? how about the voltage ?

Just grab almost the whole length of each pin (end on) with a set of pliers and slowly twist them. Start with a small amount of twist on each pin and try it in the socket. Keep making small adjustments until it fits. They don't need to be twisted as far as our native ones to fit into the socket. Voltage never seems to be a problem.

yeah i think this is my final and only way to get the 32gb Nexus 5 here in nz , i really needed that 32gb. cause 16gb is not enough! I have my ipad 16gb and it went full after 7-8months of use and now it is full again. And as a phone I need it to have a good amount of storage capacity :)

If it's a NZ retailer, and you're buying personally not for a business, you have your Consumer Guarantees Act, which could effectively be a 3 year extended warranty. If you can be bothered enforcing your consumer rights etc

Most US mobile providers offer the phone at 100 USD above Google's price (which is subsidised). This is around 120 NZD. Not only that, you're getting an extra 12-months of warranty, as well as the ease of being able to deal with any problems locally.

tl;dr 2degrees are offering a fantastic deal, do your research before throwing around random numbers.

Your numbers aren't entirely accurate because you're comparing the import costs of a single imported phone vs a bulk import. 2 degrees would be getting the same international version that is sold in Aussie for $450 NZD so I think it's more than reasonable to ask why there is such a big difference in price and I think it's far from fantastic when compared to what Australian's pay.

I read somewhere that 2° reckon they're not making much on the deal - they were lamenting the fact that they just don't have the purchasing power of Google when it comes to negotiating with LG. It's also worth noting that resellers in the US usually charge far more than the Play Store does.

This problem will not be solved until Google sees us as better than third-rate and adds us to the list of second-rate countries that now have access to devices via the Play Store. Of course, there is only one first-rate country... Come on Google - how hard can it be?

yeah true, but i dont really mind the warranty :) all i care about is getting that 32gb international version. I've tweeted to LG nz if they have any plans to release a 32gb variant and there response was "the nexus 5 will be available mid Nov, No plans to range 32gb variant just the 16 unfortunately. Back up to LG Cloud? ^PD"

I swear that put me off soo bad! really felt that disappointment just eating my heart away! but I researched and researched more and stumbled here! and saw the this post were this guy is gonna order is 32gb :), oh my oh my, My day couldn't get any better :D

Im thinking of getting the White 32gb model OR should i go for a black?

+1 Also, extended warranties are a joke when buying from a bigger retailer such as Noel Leeming (as long as you're not afraid to assert your rights), but it might take some effort to convince a smaller outfit such as this to comply. Often they're not even aware of their obligations under the CGA. I recently had a dryer bought from Noel Leeming fail after 3 and a half years and out of warranty. They got me to call Whirlpool directly, but their call centre was oblivious, and even somewhat rude. Fortunately after leaning on Noel Leeming again, Whirlpool decided to just refund the original purchase price in full. :) But I wouldn't count on the CGA at a place like this, unless you're seriously willing to get aggressive.

Why? I'd have to agree with this comparison here.

We're used to be ripped off compare to most things in the US, but usually Australia get's ripped off too so we let it go.

In this case, you can get the Nexus 5 for 400AUD (+ shipping, let's say 480 NZD). So you can get the phone in Australia for less than 500 NZD and we think getting the phone for 700 here is a great deal?! Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the CGA and the two years warranty, but if given the choice between paying $200 for a warranty or taking the risk I know which one I'm going for...

So really your 24 months warranty isn't free, it's 40% of the purchase price...
