This might be a little off topic, but does anyone know if the Nexus 6p will be compatible with Semble Mobile Payment?

I bought a Semble enabled SIM for my Nexus 6 and installed the app but after several weeks of emails they said that there were not enough Nexus devices to justify the extra development to make it work.

Now the Play Store says that Semble is not compatible with my Nexus 6.

I am guessing that the Nexus 6P will have the same problem.

Semble SIM require something that's called Smartcardservice api in the phone. Unfortunately, Nexus devices do not have Smartcardservice. Please correct me if am wrong.

As far as I know it won't work until Semble changes the way how it communicates with Android OS, especially in nexus devices.

Got my heart set on the Frost so I've ordered from Google. I have a sinking feeling you'll all be getting yours before I get mine!

But I have a code going if anyone wants it, just fire me a PM, I may miss a post here.

Alsmot. Semble uses the SIMAlliance API. This is added to the device's ROM at the request of the operators when ordering the handset. That's why imported handsets, even of the same model sold in New Zealand, aren't always compatible with Semble. They lack the essential bits of the API.

The API provides a secure way of communicating with the secure element on the SIM card.

One option is to manage the cards using a Semble-compatible handset, turn Always On for the default card you want to use, insert the SIM on a NFC-enabled handset and in the Tap-to-Pay option under Settings | NFC you select Semble. This will automatically use the default card selected for contactless payments.

That's why you can get a Semble SIM and use a Windows Phone or Blackberry for payments - you only need Semble to manage the cards, not for the payment itself.

Never knew about the SimAlliance API in android. I believe NZ mobile providers might be asking manufacturers to include it in their OS. Thanks for that info.... its always good to learn new stuff.

I got to try out the alternative method you mentioned. Hope it works.

I opted for the 128GB so got an email for the 64gb but it only works for the Graphite...  Can I get another email code for the 64gb frost instead?

There is no Frost unfortunately, you'll have to try the Google store or opt for graphite.

So if I currently have my semble set to always on with my M7 if I put the sim in my 6P and turn NFC on it will work.

Hi everyone,

Just want to clarify a couple of questions that have been coming up.

The discount codes that have been sent out for the Nexus 6P 64GB Graphite are valid until midnight Sunday Nov 29th, and you can also sign-up on a Plan until 8.00pm on the same day. When the 128GB Graphite units come in (expected by Nov 20th) then we will send new codes to the people who selected that and those codes will be valid for 15 days from then, and ability to sign on a plan will also be valid for 15 days.

For Warranty claims where the Bootloader has been unlocked (the Qfuse is triggered) Huawei have advised that they will treat these on a case by case basis. There is no blanket policy to reject claims for this reason and it is likely that the claim will only be declined if there is obvious physical or water damage as expected.

Semble will not be supported on the Nexus 6P.

Orders for the 64GB Graphite units will ship out on Monday and some Auckland addresses may get them same day. Otherwise they will arrive from Tuesday morning.

And finally, to make up for the issues over the last couple of days, Huawei have agreed to send a free Chromecast (current model) out with each Nexus 6P 64GB Graphite from Monday, and with the 128GB Graphite when that comes in.

Have a great weekend!

Regards,

2degrees

Long time lurker here as well. Totally stoked with this whole deal. (And it just got even better!)
It seems like this has been a resounding success for everyone involved.
