I actually find I hit the rockers on my desire more. I guess people hold them differently so is very person dependant

I did have an iphone 4s before that though, so I'm probably exaggerating a bit about the lag.

No problem with lag on my device. Smooth as to be honest. Battery life is ok (Not as good as our One V, but good). Not sure what the issue is with the volume rocker, never seem to hit it when talking (or using the phone?)

Same, was iPhone user before and it was silky smooth so could juSt be being a cry baby. Still, now that I've moved to Android, I can to Android i can change my phone like I change my undies if I want to.

iPhones are the worst for lag.

For me the lag is in the swiping left to right from the homescreen. It mainly happens at slow speed.

Many people struggling over this question, and the answer isn't that clear cut. Can I ask what the most important aspects of the phone will be for you? Browsing? Music? Video? Games? GPS? Does it need to be future proof enough to see out two years on contract?

In most respects the S3 has superior hardware specs (and where it doesn't it has equivalent specs), but those may not matter to you depending on what you want from the device and the weighting you put on things. Give us a little more information and we can give you better advice!

Important aspects for the phoen for me is
Using facebook, occasional browsing, syncing calenders, GPS, occasional games like Angry birds.
Don't really use my phone to listen to music or watch video. Nice to have a decent camera on it though for those spare of the moment photos.

I can't recommend either phone over the other to be honest. The best thing to be in your case is to go into a Vodafone/2d/Telecom store when the S3 is released and you should be able to get a feel for both phones.

Going from that little list however, I would slightly favour the One X

Is that with a static background or an animated one? I use an iPhone 4S but am seriously considering changing to the One X - I've played with the demo One X in my local Telecom shop so many times but haven't noticed any lag when swiping between home screens. It may have been a bit faster swiping when it was just a static background.

The weather lock screen seems to cause a more prominent stutter on first swipe right or left, it isn't really bad, its just there.

Still, it's hard to find the perfect ...

Imo play with both and get the one that makes you go wow more.
Sounds like both will easily do.what you want to do so it will come down to wow factor and how it feels in your hand

And you are disappointed with the One X's GPS performance? 6 foot lock from the windowsill with a not so good skyview in 30secs or so is pretty impressive

Plus the One X will likely be $100 cheaper, perhaps more

I have to say it is pretty damn fast to get a fix. My desire sometimes took a couple of minutes to lock on, but the one x is well under a minute.

The One X GPS is noticeably inferior to my Note (which has GLONASS like the S3). That lock indoors doesn't mean a lot to be frank, apart from it may indicate improved GPS over older mobile GPS hardware. In actual tracking it produces notably worse tracks than the Note, it's signal is weaker, and occasionally it loses signal altogether. It's fine for basic navigation, but for sportstracking/geotagging and any other GPS related activity that demands more exacting performance it's not up there with GLONASS equipped hardware.

I'll gave to test those things. The desire did ok at it so I'd be surprised if the one x is worse.
I used it for tracking bike rides and a few car trips
