I would agree that battery whilst idle isn't great on the SIII. All in all compared to my SII whilst there are plenty of cool things about the SIII, the SII was just better overall.

ccpptt: Hey guys. I am getting some excessive battery loss while my phone is asleep. For example, 100% battery when I go to bed...and it's at 80% when I wake up 8 hours later.

I have installed BetterBatteryStats and it shows that I am getting 'No or unknown signal' for all the time the phone is asleep. Is this normal?

Phone's (Vodafone) software is completely stock. I have come from an i9000 running CM9 RC2 and this was never the case with that.

mine too. I dont know why it says "no or unknown signal" because at home i've full 5 bars all the time.

BTW I find that disabling GPS gives another 10 Hrs atleast! which i dont understand because am not actively using any maps application. probably applications like facebook consuming that GPS .

I find the SGS3 better by far. The latest updates, everything since XXLBFB, have bought it beyond the SGS2 in my opinion.

John.

This may already be asked by someone and answered, but instead of trawling through all 221 pages:

Having just purchased a SIII, can someone assist with the following:

1.
When viewing emails in a pop3 account, the images do not show on the email. Have checked the Show Images setting and also the email format is html from the sender. Is there a step that we are missing?

2.
When receiving a pxt or image via email, is there are way of resizing it larger without saving it to the gallery first?

Thanks

I'd suggest for both of these in respect to the email part of your question(s) playing around with a few different email apps, I don't think the default ics/touchwiz email are very flexible here. With pxts I've always found it useful to identify this sort of functionality for my custom Rom shopping list! Not my sort've thing so does anyone know if apps can take over pxt functions?

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

Really can't make up my mind between this and the One X.

I prefer the Camera on the SIII, better battery and can add additional storage. But it feels cheap and lightweight whereas the One X looks beautiful has better camera FEATURES and feels like a beast of a smartphone should. Prefer the elegence of Sense to Touchwiz, but don't like that you can't swap batteries or add additional storage.

I've had a play with both and that doesn't really change anything lol.

I'm stuck.

^Get both?

I had the official extended battery in my S2, my s3 is doing better battery times.
I'm very happy....

I must add, the day I got my s3, (last Thursday), I downloaded some apps, I noticed the power button wasn't selecting the power button long hold menu, it would switch off straight away, really frikkin annoying and I was a little bit freaked TBH, but anyway, a lot of searching on google, here and xda left me no better off in what was going on, so I did a factory reset and now it's all good and has been for days.

Anyone heard of this happening before? The app I suspect may have been the culprit, was BubbleUPnP, there's no proof or scientific basis for this apart from an unscientific hunch. That's the only app I extensively used prior to the strange issue, cool app by the way, streaming to my telly was very easy and responsive.

This phone is great, can't wait for JB ;)

Glass half full, you'll be stoked either way right? My s3 is still keeping me very happy!

You can't go wrong with either choice really.  I prefer the SGS3 just because of its raw power and as you said it has more upgrade options.

I have held the HTC One X and there is a very slight weight difference (3g to be precise) but to me it feels the same, build wise the One X feels more sturdy but can't write off the S3.  Although made out of hard plastic all-round, it feels quite good.

Personal preference will be the deciding factor, but I'd definitely go the way of Sammy.

I'm on a custom rom and battery life is superb compared to my S2. Using it the way I do I get 2 days on S3 compared to a day on S2.

Apart from the looks the S3 is miles in front of S2 IMHO

+1. the SIII has far superior battery life (not surprising, given the increase in capacity).

Kopkiwi, are you from Tawa per chance? The S3 is a better all round choice, you can get the One X feel with a Rock cover if you want but the phone itself kills the OneX, I am running a custom ROM now and it fly's. I have had HTC before and they do a great job of Sense and the feel of the phone but thats it.
