motorwayne: Oh for goodness sake already, when is jellybean coming to the S3?

From rumours I believe that it is sometimes end of this Month or September. If Samsung can deliver the update by this month then Samsung would get lots of Kudo from the customers and will help generate more sales and I will be a loyal customer for many years to come.

You're kidding right? If a company deliver one SW update for one device by an arbitrary timeframe you'll be loyal for years?

That doesn't seem to make sense to me.

These updates are a deep person thing and it is a man's inalienable right to commit his loyalty however he sees fit. :-)

To be sure, to be sure.

I know that JB will be on S3 but timely update quickly would help reassured that my investment is not going to waste. It's like people who is layal to just buying the half eaten fruit whether the 4 and the 4s have the same internal and external, they. still buy the phone. I wouldn't buy a fruit branding or Nokia. Nokia products are dead products without future iteration to the software version. Been there with Nokia phones and done with them.

My point is I'm happy with Samsung support for what I bought from them. My old S2 was good and got ICS and soon will get JB (I sold it) . But now I have S3 and so far so good with the system update. If you look at HTC and LG, you'll see that you will either get ICS last or never at all. Good luck buying those phones. I'm sticking where I feel comfortable and it's my money after all lol.

Long story short, I'd rather be loyal to Samsung than paying loyalty to Apple. Talkiet may be would but I wouldn't. Steve Jobs inspired me in a way but I still dislike him and his arrogant point of views. :)

Talkiet, FYI, I have Samsung TVs, 2 Galaxy S2, 2 Galaxy S3 and I will buy more Samsung. Don't be frustrated mate, Samsung made good products at competitive pricing.

Yes, this current round of litigation is quite ugly and castes Apple in a bad light, not the sort of light that most of its users probably prefer to think about as Apple was itself a sort of David vs Goliath. Now it is the Goliath and understandably trying to protect itself, but the problem is how do you do that without looking like and acting like a bully, and losing the loyalty that got you there in the first place.

Hard place to be in.

Am I right in saying that a Vodafone branded s3 is going to be a long wait for JB?

Longer than say non carrier customized rom yes most likely... I've hedged my bets and changed my CSC & ROM to BTU & XXLG8 which is unbranded and seems to get only OTA updates first, I am assuming JB will roll out first on this CSC so I will see JB in  the first wave of updates

I think Vodafone S3 might be a bit slower to get JB but it is not a problem when you can flash any S3 JB ROM when it comes out :)

Yeah haven't rooted my device yet. Not sure I can be bothered, having set everything up nicely and I get sick to death of re downloading 100+ apps, I wish Google would sort their sht and allow batch downloading for apps you've previously downloaded.

Rooting doesnt wipe your phone, so all your apps stay. However once you root you can download Titanium from the Play Store and then next time you do wipe you can indeed do a batch reload of your apps.

Having said that I agree the Play Store is a pain in that it wont let you do a batch reload, or remove old apps you dont use anymore.

Hmm, so rooting changes nothing? It doesn't restore the phone to factory settings?

no it doesn't only allows root access which is handy for Titanium backup, as been said, and other apps that can benefit you.

You only need to do reset/full wipe when changing kernal and Rom.
