landcruiserguy: Go 2 degrees. The network isn't as good as spark in rural areas but they are a much better company than spark and Vodafone.

@landcruiserguy 2Degrees Don't offer 4G roaming and no $5 daily roaming so not the best advice

John

Agreed, as I said notwork not as good in rural areas particularly considering that Spark are building a 700mhz 4g network through all of Canterbury.  Still a better company and most people in this life don't go any further than the local mall.

Still no text from PB tech to go and pick up my new preciousss

@landcruiserguy VodafoneNZ & SparkNZ have been building out the 4G 700Mhz network across NZ for years not just Canterbury check out the gis.geek.nz/celltowers

I'd just like to offer my thoughts and prayers for those that have had to wait a couple of extra days for their new phone.

Mine's sitting in Akl still but at least I have a tracking number. I am hoping my current phone doesn't stop working completely before Monday. Please wish me luck. Any hints or tips on how I can avoid breaking or losing my current phone until Monday? I'm so worried.

Cheers - N

Well I got a call from a nice man from VF who is going to fix me up.

They might send me another phone from another location on urgent courier and then I can return the one that arrives in the future.

If that's the case, I'll be happy and moderately impressed.

Chickens sit on their eggs to keep them warm and safe. If you choose this route, please send photos.

LOL. I wish.... The PBtech bundle was more suited to me than our bundle, and as I'm on a corporate plan there's no way I could sensibly get and use the account credit.... Plus, I'm technical - it's not like I'm in marketing or sales and get cool new toys to play with :-)

Don't worry, there are some perks... I must say not paying for my cell plan is nice - although looking at prices now (across the whole industry) they seems so so so cheap compared to last time I had to pay for a mobile plan...

Cheers - N

I pay less than 1/3 now for my whole company, than I used to pay on my own plan from Vodafone in the Bell South Era.

IIRC my bill regularly was between $1100-1300 a month.

Sure but I only really care about the part of the country I live in, not the small offshore islands to the north.  There are a lot more Spark 700mhz towers on that map than Vodafone 700mhz towers.  I am not trying to get into a religious war, just pointing out that in my experience 2 degrees has cheaper deals and better customer service than the other telcos.

PB tech said it would be here at 12.  It's now 1:02pm and I keep compulsively checking my phone for the text.  Are we there yet?

Just phoned PB. Mine is queued for picking at the warehouse now. Definitely won't be today, but they've changed the shipping to Saturday delivery so should have it tomorrow.

It's 2:27 and no text.  I am going to go in and wait impatiently in the stor.  If that doesn't work I am doing to stamp my feet and yell "I WANT AN ICE CREAM"

Seems entirely reasonably. Mine has not moved in tracking for 24 hours and 2 minutes. It's still "processing at depot" in Auckland... But I have other thing to keep me busy over the weekend so I'll try not to get too upset about it.

It seems the tracking service for the courier service PB uses does not provide a timely/accurate update.

I received mine this morning and yet it was still showing 'processing at depot'.
