Damager: Finally will get an S3. Using GZ's price comparison search. Gadgets Online is the cheapest. Anyone had experience with them?

I bought my S2 off them last year, very good to deal with although I did go to the shop as its just down the road from me. Have a small range of cases, have rock case granite half the price I paid from PBtech.

kiwitrc: I always wonder about people who insist on only using one hand to use their phone, what are they doing with the other hand that's so important ;)

I operate my S3 one handed most of the time. This is especially useful when on the train and using one hand to hold onto the rail so I don't fall over. I have fairly large hands so don't really have any problem operating it with one hand though.

Same here - I'd qualify 'large' hands by being able to easily overlay the tip of my middle finger over my thumbnail if I close my hand over the widest part of the phone (if that makes sense?).  Can be a little fiddly activating the notification menu, but you get the knack pretty quickly.

Pulling down the notifications shade is the only thing I can't comfortably do one-handed (har-har etc). There is a knack to do doing it one-handed that I mastered with the Note, but it does strain the hand a bit (insert obligatory innuendo here).

Using a third party launcher like Nova or Apex gets around that by letting you swipe downwards anywhere on a homescreen to pull it down. Helps quite a bit (used that a lot with my Note of course).

Just got a OTA update, was hoping for a bit of jelly bean :P but alas looks like just a minor update with new modem XXLH1 and god knows what else (only 0.17mb so couldn't expect much!)

I use Nova as well so not an issue.

I don't see the issue with screen size and remember this debate when S2 came out. Unless I'm just checking a message I'll always use 2 hands as I did on S1 and S2 so maybe I'm just conditioned to it.

Be interesting to see how some of the Iphone fans deal with the expected bigger screen on iphone 5 given a few said the S2 was too big and Iphone 4 just right

Best walkthrough for rooting?

Cheers man, looks easy enough.

Re a 64gb SD Card, am I really going to have to fork out $100 for one? Or is there somewhere cheaper than, TM eBay and Amazon?

Just ah going to give the SD card request a bump

I got one of these, works perfectly as intended

Do I heed the warning accompanying the auction? THat it doesn't work on 4.0 devices??

The S3 supports it, perhaps other Android 4.0 devices don't. WOrking fine over here (unless you run a custom ROM that doesn't support exfat...)

Dang what a thread - just picked up my first Android phone (SIII) after buying a Nexus 7. Can't say I was too impressed with the stock ROM. Promptly installed SuperNexus (JB) and WOW AMAZING. Don't even think I need the Nexus7 anymore.

Haven't been this impressed by a gadget in a long time!

Not too sure yet, I didn't spend much time at all with the stock ROM so can't really compare. Overnight (6hours) it lost perhaps 8% on standby. Will give it a few days and report back.

Only bug I have experienced so far is switching between front and back camera takes about 5 seconds which isnt really a deal breaker.

Apparently some people are experiencing a memory leak - but I haven't rebooted in about 20hours and there is still RAM free so who knows.

The hour or two I spent on the stock ROM I felt buyers remorse coming from an iPhone. Can happily say that has gone now - can't wait for official JB to be released

Well it was my first time rooting/flashing an android handset so I will just assume you have it rooted/CWM installed already? If not I used this tool Samsung GS3 Int Toolkit and found instructions somewhere online http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488

Then just followed the OP's guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817345

FYI People are reporting WiFi tethering problems (I don't use so cannot confirm)
