Bung:
FazerDude:

If it makes you feel better i just went a pre-ordered 1 from WHS for $699, even at that price its a good deal  :P

How did you manage to pre-order from WHS? - Their website doesn't seem to want to offer me that option.

But it is still showing 2 Degrees Nexus 4 @$699 :D

Just search for Nexus 5 in the search bar on the site.

Why do I get the feeling none of the local retailers are going to stock the 32GB model... Madness!!

Reading the N5 owners book or whatever it was that i found on the mighty interwebz I note that the N5 has a few features that are clearly listed as unique and not found on the GPe versions, given their aggressive stance on fragmentation and to a lessor extent on OEM skins, I would have thought keeping a cohesive UI and featureset across premium 4.4 enabled handsets would be of more interest than marketing the N5 as feature rich by comparison

Cralfe: Mine is still on the way to youshop, that's what I get for being lazy and getting up late :P

On a side note, does anyone know if the customs gift concession can apply to youshop orders? My mum's birthday is coming up and a phone makes a nice present :P and the concession would eliminate the need to pay the GST & fees since the amount taxable would be below the threshold.

You can't do that for a postal import

If a relative posts it to you and marks it as a gift would that count? Christmas is coming.

I wasn't aware that there was a Google Play edition (GPe?). Aren't there just 2 models, the D820 and D821...

Are the 2d ones from WHS likely to be any different to one from Google Play? Are there any carrier branding mods etc made or is it literally identical?

My partner is weighing up her options to see how to best get one of these, and is wanting to use it on Telecom. We're thinking a local purchase might be the easiest way to get an 821 at this point!

Identical. Except you get a nz wall adapter.

Identical to the AU / UK model or identical to the US model.

There are some LTE differences.

MobiCity have just listed the white 32GB on their website (isn't appearing in search results yet). $739, though with customs, GST and delivery it goes up to $888.96

No word on when stock will be in yet.

Stupid price. The LG G2 can be had for $100 less and that's a better spec'd phone.

Pre-ordered mine from WHS this afternoon. I emailed WHS via their website, and got the following response;

Hi Sean,

Thank you for contacting Warehouse Stationery Ltd.

The Google Nexus 5 will be available from the 15th of November onwards. You can pre-order the handset through any of our stores at the moment; the pre-order price is $699.00.  The Black model will be available right away but the White has been delayed and may not be available on release day.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries.

I then walked down to my local store. Spoke to the guy behind the counter who took my number and email and gave me a receipt.

When I arrived back at my desk I had an email confirming my pre-order, and that the stock controller would be alerted as soon as the item arrived and I would get a phonecall and email straight away.

Really good service, I've never dealt with them before but they've outdone themselves so far. Now I only have a week to wait!

Why would you?
Wait a week and get from WHS or 2degrees
